What are the most common challenges faced by remote Junior Flutter Developers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Junior Flutter Developers often encounter challenges such as limited real-time collaboration, difficulty in understanding project requirements without in-person guidance, and managing time effectively. These can be addressed by actively participating in virtual team meetings, making use of collaborative tools (like Slack or Jira), and seeking regular feedback from senior developers. Building a habit of clear communication and proactively reaching out for help can also accelerate learning and integration into the team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Junior Flutter Developer in a remote role, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Junior Flutter Developer remotely, a solid understanding of Dart programming, Flutter framework fundamentals, and mobile app development basics is essential, typically supported by a relevant degree or coursework. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, experience using IDEs such as Android Studio or VS Code, and knowledge of debugging and testing tools are crucial. Strong communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving abilities help you collaborate effectively with distributed teams and manage tasks independently. These skills ensure you can build high-quality apps, contribute to team goals, and succeed in a remote work environment.

Job description

What Your Day Will Look Like:

Make an impact close to home. Join Consor's Draper team to design local and UDOT roadway improvements from safety upgrades and urban corridors to interchange and widening projects. Bring a strong technical foundation and a desire to grow into task lead and project leadership, while mentoring junior staff and delivering highquality plans.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead/perform roadway design and prepare full PS&E packages: plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates (PSE) for bid.
  • Develop typical sections, horizontal/vertical alignments, profiles, crosssections, and traffic control/phasing details.
  • Apply AASHTO/UDOT standards; ensure compliance with local/state/federal requirements.
  • Conduct/oversee drainage and stormwater design components within roadway projects (coordination with H&H as needed).
  • Own scope/schedule/budget, and perform QA/QC reviews of design calculations and plan sheets.
  • Mentor junior engineers (task assignment, checks, coaching) and collaborate across disciplines (structures, traffic, environmental).

Salary: $100 - 140k (depending on experience) Compensation for candidates with significant experience beyond the minimum requirements may be considered above this range.

What You'll Need:

  • 4+ years in roadway/transportation design with construction plan set experience.
  • Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D; familiarity with InRoads/GEOPAK a plus.
  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • PE (Utah) or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
  • Clear communicator who is open mentoring junior staff and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred

  • UDOT project experience and knowledge of UDOT CADD standards; municipal coordination experience.
  • Experience preparing PSE/estimate and performing QC reviews.
This hybrid job operates between an office environment and a field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones and copy machines. May require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements. While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
