The Position

This junior role provides assistance to the Accounting Team by processing, reconciling, generating reports, and providing other related support to ensure that casino revenues are processed and payments are made in an accurate and timely manner. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepares bank reconciliations, bank journal entries, credit cards transactions, bank deposits and related documents as necessary.
  • Processes and reconciles internal and external accounts and prepares related documents.
  • Prepares cost reports or statements for current projects.
  • Prepares accounting related documentation for any of the divisions or departments within a specified time frame.
  • Corroborates and validates invoices and statements with proper documentation.
  • Prepares report reconciliations and validates the daily information to ensure accuracy. 
  • Prepares HST, NRT tax returns requirements for payment in appropriate time frames and follows standard procedures.
  • Processes month end journal entries.
  • Prepares schedules and requested balance reports including daily Food & Beverage cash analysis. 
  • Assists with ad-hoc accounting related functions and requirements.
  • Ensures accounting files are organized and updated. 
  • Provides support for accounts payable processing by coding and entering invoices.
  • Responds to standard inquiries and refers more complex inquiries to appropriate parties.
  • Coordinates and distributes scheduled and requested statistic reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring  

  • 1 year of experience in a similar role within an accounting department and/or equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred
  • Good knowledge of accounting software, experience with Great Plains is an asset
  • Current enrolment in CPA program is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Micros is an asset
  • General knowledge of accounting and finance theories, practices, legislation and related resources
  • Detail oriented, resourceful, and efficient
  • Strong computer skills including spreadsheets, data based software, email and web browsers
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Solid customer service skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse customer group
  • Ability to aid in defining and solving problems; able to collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
  • Ability to plan, organize, and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands
  • Ability to perform efficiently  in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Strong ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
