Job Title: Junior Database Administrator
Location: Greenbelt, MD
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
Business Integra Inc. is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to support and maintain enterprise Oracle database environments that power mission-critical Java web applications. This role is ideal for a motivated database professional looking to grow their expertise in Oracle database administration, high availability, disaster recovery, security, and performance optimization.
The successful candidate will work closely with software developers, database administrators, system administrators, and business stakeholders to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise database systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists in the administration of Oracle 19c high availability and disaster recovery databases, including the installation, configuration, and patching.
  • Assists in the creation of tables, indexes, triggers, account management, and other DB related objects.
  • Support near zero downtime database patching and upgrades.
  • Support system level and database maintenances.
  • Maintains data dictionary information.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining DB scripts and documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate security requirements alongside senior DBA and systems administrators.
  • Monitors DB performance, logs, disk space and bottlenecks.
  • Perform SQL code review and analysis.
  • Build and execute ad-hoc queries upon request.
  • Adhere to project schedules and proactively resolve or escalate issues to management
  • Document the system, component and interface designs and requirements to ensure future maintainability
  • Collaborate with application developers, database and systems administrators, content management and internal stakeholders
  • Participate in the maintenance and deployment of projects, providing support outside normal core business hours or nights and weekends
  • Provide Level II customer support via phone, e-mail and ServiceNow, supporting our customer and IT service ticketing system.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • BA/BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
  • Required: 4+ years of Oracle database administration experience
  • Required: 4+ years of experience writing SQL queries for Oracle databases
  • Preferred: Experience with Linux and Windows environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with Toad and Cloud Control/Grid Control

Other Requirements:
  • US Citizen or permanent residency, with ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must work On-site for a minimum of three (3) days per week.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication, written and oral, to ensure quality information collection and dissemination across teams, departments, and the whole SEWP program.
