Job description

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for an Analyst to support our Sustainable Materials Management practice. The Analyst III will be responsible for working in conjunction with the project team in providing financial, economic, and management consulting services to our municipal and private clients. The individual will be a responsible member of the project team and will effectively analyze data, develop solutions suitable for the client's needs, and assist in demonstrating the solutions in client meetings.  

How you can make an impact
  • Assists project teams internally and in client meetings by performing general and project-specific tasks for assigned projects. Tasks that may be performed include, but are not limited to:
    • Creating and distributing data requests for client data to be used in financial analysis.
    • Reviewing client data provided to determine whether it is in a usable format and following up with client regarding additional data needs or clarification.
    • Proactively performing client research to gain deeper understanding of operational, financial, and strategic challenges. Using this information in developing analysis and may communicate this information in client meetings.
    • Analyzing and manipulating client data and using it to extrapolate future values.
    • Performing variance analysis on large data sets.
    • Managing project-specific models to maintain consistency in data integration, formula creation, cell style designation, and notation.
    • Participating in internal reviews by recommending various solutions to meet the client's needs based on the analysis completed and having scenarios prepared for demonstration to project team.
    • Creating draft agendas, schedules, workbooks, presentations, and reports for project team review and distributing final versions to client for multiple projects according to communicated timelines.
    • Effectively demonstrating financial models in interactive meetings with clients, key decision makers, and community stakeholders.
    • Contributing significantly in client meetings and answering questions about data.
    • Proactively tailoring existing quantitative model templates to solve client challenges.
    • Identifying and recommending specific improvements in existing quantitative model templates or new models in development for various types of clients and industries.
    • May participate in public presentation of results or demonstration of financial models to boards, councils, or selection committees.
  • Understands that client satisfaction is critical to team success and ensures that projects are completed and deliverables are error-free, with the purpose of meeting the Client's business objectives.
  • Proactively communicates with the Project Director or Project Lead on the status of projects and assists with determining next steps and assigning project tasks to junior staff.
  • Meets all performance and training goals, team assignments, and client demands within given timelines.
  • Ensures that the quality of each deliverable meets the SCS standards set forth.
  • Works with the project team and independently to advance skills in financial modeling, industry knowledge, and learning advanced concepts.
  • Effectively assists more junior staff in advancing their skills and understanding standard operating procedures. Able to delegate basic tasks to more junior staff as required to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related consulting experience required. 
  • Coding, VBA, and/or data visualization skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of local government structure and financial reporting preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
Pay RangeUSD $90,000.00 - USD $113,000.00 /Yr.Additional InformationPlease note that our pay ranges are determined by several factors, including relevant experience, internal pay equity, and location.
