Technology and Systems

The Technology & Systems department drives technological innovation for the company and advances the technology strategy to support global growth. This includes IT, Software Development, OT / Automation Systems, and business process improvement. At Vantage, we are very hands on. In most cases, we specify,purchase,configureandmaintainall networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so we can make informed purchase decisions. The Technology & Systems departmentparticipatesin designing each of our new data center building's networking infrastructure, including but not limited to diverse pathways connecting to carriers, meet-me room (MMR) hosting (rack, cabs, ladders, cross connect panels...), wireless AP coverage, etc.

We rely on extreme collaboration with Sales, Construction, Operations and Corporate Functions to drive simplification,establishglobal standards with continuous improvement and speed to value. Position Overview

This can be based on-site at our office in Denver, CO. in alignment with our flexible work policy (3 days on siterequired, 2 days flexible).

Vantage Data Centersis seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help evolve and scale our enterprise data platform. This role will build andoptimizehigh-performance data pipelines while integrating Microsoft AI tools such asSharePoint AI,Azure AI Foundry, and Fabric to enable advanced analytics and intelligent applications. As a key contributorwithinthe Technology and Systems team, you will bridge traditional data engineering with emerging AI capabilities, ensuring our data platform is prepared for automation, search, and predictiveinsights. You will collaborate with teams across the organization, including Human Resources, Operations, Finance, Sales, Procurement, Legal, and other business functions, translating business challenges into practical, data-drivenand AI-enabled solutions that deliver measurable impact.

Essential Job Functions

  • Design, build,andoptimizescalable,secure data pipelines and data platform solutions using modern Microsoft cloud PaaS and SaaS technologies.

  • Develop data models and curated datasets that enable advanced analytics, AI-driven applications, and intelligent search experiences.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders across Human Resources, Operations, Finance, Sales, Procurement, Legal, and other business functions to translate requirements into practical data and AI solutions.

  • Implement data quality, governance, security, and performance optimization practices to ensure reliable and scalable data systems.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers, promoting engineering standards and best practices.

  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and platform design decisionstomaintainaconsistent and scalable enterprise data platform.

  • Evaluate emerging technologiesandparticipateintechnical risk assessments to support the evolution of the organization's data and AI capabilities.

  • Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture throughstrong communication, ownership, and teamwork.

Duties

  • Design and implement secure, scalable data platform frameworks aligned with modern cloud architecture principles.

  • Developandmaintainscalabledata models that support analytics, AI workloads, and enterprise reporting.

  • Contribute to data and platform architecture following Microsoft Well-Architected Framework and cloud best practices.

  • Define and document security considerations, controls, and governance practices for protecting data and platform assets.

  • Assess the impact ofnew technologies, architectural changes, and platform enhancements on the organization's data architecture and security posture.

  • Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation covering platform architecture, design decisions, and engineering standards.

  • Communicate emerging data, analytics, and AI technologies to the engineering team to support platform evolution.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree inEngineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or data platform architecture.

  • Proficiencyin Python (or equivalent programming language) for buildingandmaintainingdatapipelines, automation, and data processing workflows.

  • Proficiencyin SQL for querying, transformation, and performance tuning across relational and analytical data stores.

  • Experience designing scalable enterprise data architectures, includinglakehouse, warehouse, medallion, and domain-oriented data platform patterns.

  • Experience implementing data quality, lineage, metadata management, and governance practices across enterprise data platforms.

  • Experience managing and optimizing cloud-based data platforms, including infrastructure, storage, compute, monitoring, and cost management.

  • Strong ability to evaluate source systems, integration approaches, and data platform designs to align with business and technical requirements.

  • Familiarity with data cataloging, data stewardship, access controls, and regulatory compliance considerations.

  • Understandingdata modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and modern data integration patterns.

  • Experience analyzing enterprise data sourcestoidentifydatarelationships, transformations, and business rules.

  • Experience building enterprise data solutions on Microsoft Azure, with strong hands-on experience in Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2). Working knowledge of Power BI for reporting and analytics is preferred.

  • Exposure to additional Azure data services such as Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies is considered an asset.

  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools such as GitHub or Azure DevOps.

  • Experience integrating enterprise applications and data sources using APIs, web services, event-driven architectures, or other modern integration patterns

  • Strong knowledge of dimensional data modeling including fact and dimension tables and star or snowflake schemas.

  • Working knowledge of networking and security fundamentals, including internet protocols, firewalls, and proxyconfigurations.

  • Strongcommunicationandinterpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

  • Experience using collaboration and project tracking tools such as Jira or Microsoft Project.

  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Bilingual in English/French or English/German is considered an asset butnotrequired.

  • Travel required is expected to be up to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolve

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed data processing frameworks.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled data solutions includingAzure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, Cognitive Services,or similar technologies.

  • ExposuretoadditionalAzureservices such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Power Apps, and Azure API Managementor equivalent services, with the ability to evaluate and integrate platform capabilities as needed.

  • Experience delivering technical training, documentation, or mentorship related to data and analytics tools.

  • Exposure todata platform modernization or cloud migration initiatives.

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement practices such as Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence frameworks.

  • Experience supporting enterprise collaboration platforms such as SharePoint, including governance and knowledge management models.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range:$140,000-155,000Base+ Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)
