About the role

The Data Engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining robust data infrastructure and dashboarding solutions for OMD's highest profile clients. We work closely with analytics and strategy teams to ensure clean, reliable, useable data flows and compelling visualizations that drive business insights.


What will you do

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will support the execution of our dashboarding roadmap and contribute to ongoing data operations. With guidance from Data Engineering senior stakeholders and MarSci teams, you will be responsible for:


Marketing Data Engineering & Pipeline Development

  • Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT workflows supporting marketing analytics and reporting.
  • Develop production-ready SQL transformations to clean, structure, and prepare marketing datasets.
  • Create reusable datasets and data models that support dashboards, reporting, experimentation, and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate with analytics and marketing science teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.


Marketing Cloud Intelligence (Datorama) Dashboard & Data Model Rebuild

  • Redesign and optimize the underlying data model within Marketing Cloud Intelligence (Datorama).
  • Rebuild data views, datasets, and reporting structures to improve usability and scalability.
  • Improve dashboard performance, data refresh processes, and reporting efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring reporting processes.
  • Support evaluation and potential migration of dashboards from Marketing Cloud Intelligence (Datorama) to Tableau.


Data Integration & Data Preparation

  • Extract and integrate marketing data from multiple sources, including:
  • Marketing Cloud Intelligence (Datorama)
  • Google BigQuery
  • Vendor-provided CSV/Excel files
  • Third-party marketing platforms through APIs
  • Build and maintain data ingestion processes to ensure timely and accurate data availability.
  • Clean, transform, and standardize data from multiple sources for analysis.


Data Quality & Documentation

  • Implement data validation checks to identify data quality issues and inconsistencies.
  • Monitor data accuracy and troubleshoot issues affecting reporting and analytics.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, metric definitions, and documentation of data processes.
  • Ensure consistency in business logic across reporting and analytical datasets.


Marketing Analytics Enablement

  • Understand the data requirements behind marketing measurement approaches, including:
  • Attribution & Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA)
  • Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM)
  • Incrementality testing & Experimentation
  • Forecasting
  • Partner with Marketing Science analysts and data scientists to support measurement, modeling, and optimization efforts.


Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong SQL skills and ability to write production-quality queries.
  • Experience with data transformation and modeling.
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouses (Google BigQuery preferred).
  • Familiarity with APIs and data integrations.
  • Experience working with marketing analytics data sources is preferred.
  • Experience with visualization platforms such as Tableau is an asset.
  • Understanding of marketing measurement concepts and analytical methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Airflow

Experience & Background: You have 2+ years of experience in data engineering or related technical roles. You have a strong foundation in data fundamentals and are eager to grow your skills. You are comfortable working in technical environments and have a track record of learning new tools quickly.

Technical Skills: You have hands-on experience with the skills outlined above. Proficiency in Excel is expected. You have familiarity with SQL, and basic understanding of data modelling concepts is a plus. You are comfortable working with APIs and databases.

Communication & Problem-Solving: You are a clear communicator, both written and verbal. While technical, you can also explain data concepts to non-technical colleagues. You are a detail-oriented problem solver who approaches challenges methodically, but also creatively if the opportunity arises. You take pride in the quality and accuracy of your work.
