Our challenge

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented QA Automation Engineer to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in API automation testing, proficiency with the Karate framework, and a solid understanding of QA principles. Banking domain experience is highly desirable to ensure thorough testing of financial systems and compliance standards.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Pittsburgh, PA is$95k - $105k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for APIs using Karate framework.

  • Collaborate with developers and business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into effective test cases and automation scripts.

  • Execute API tests to validate functionality, performance, security, and compliance requirements.

  • Develop and execute end-to-end automation test suites to ensure high-quality releases.

  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproducible steps and work closely with the development team for resolution.

  • Integrate automation tests within CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.

  • Maintain and enhance automation frameworks for scalability and efficiency.

  • Participate in requirement review, test planning, and review meetings to ensure quality standards.

  • Keep updated with the latest industry trends, testing tools, and automation practices, especially within the banking/financial services sector.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Automation Testing, with a focus on API testing.

  • Strong hands-on experience with the Karate framework for API automation.

  • Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and defect management.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Groovy.

  • Familiarity with testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, or similar.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

  • Strong knowledge of RESTful API protocols and JSON/XML data formats.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Banking or Financial Services domain experience, including knowledge of payment systems, core banking, or financial regulations.

  • Working knowledge of SQL for database testing.

  • Experience with performance testing tools is a plus.

  • ISTQB or other QA certifications are advantageous.
