Job description

Position Summary:

Cloud Deployment Engineers focus directly on delivering Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), platform, and hybrid cloud solutions for Red River Professional Services (RRPS) customers. The RRPS Cloud team designs, implements, migrates, and optimizes secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a Senior member of the Cloud Team, you will lead project delivery efforts, cloud modernization initiatives, develop automation frameworks, mentor technical resources, and serve as a trusted advisor for customers adopting or expanding their cloud platforms. This role requires deep expertise in Azure and strong working knowledge of AWS services, architectures, migrations, networking, security, and operational best practices.


Primary Position Tasks:

  • Lead cloud migration, modernization, and infrastructure deployment projects across Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments.

  • Design and deploy highly available, secure, and scalable cloud architectures utilizing Azure and AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.

  • Assess customer cloud readiness and develop migration and modernization roadmaps.

  • Implement and support hybrid connectivity solutions between on-premises datacenters and cloud providers.

  • Design and implement cloud networking solutions, including site-to-site VPNs, ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, VPCs, Virtual Networks, routing, and segmentation.

  • Implement cloud VDI solutions in Microsoft Azure (AVD) and Amazon Web Services (Amazon Workspace).

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, and AWS CloudFormation.

  • Automate cloud deployments and operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, and AWS CLI.

  • Implement cloud security controls, monitoring, governance, backup, disaster recovery, and compliance solutions.

  • Collaborate with Cloud Practice Architects to develop and deliver new multi-cloud service offerings.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and escalation support for junior implementation personnel.

  • Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to cloud best practices and standards.


Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.

  • 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

  • Experience delivering multi-cloud and hybrid cloud solutions for enterprise customers.

  • Strong understanding of Azure and AWS networking, security, identity, compute, storage, backup, and monitoring services.

  • Experience performing cloud migrations from on-premises datacenters to Azure and/or AWS.

  • Working knowledge of cloud governance, cost management, and operational best practices.

  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and cloud-native automation tools.

  • Proven experience deploying and managing Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), including sizing, OS configuration, and performance optimization.

  • Strong understanding of Azure Virtual Networking, including subnets, network security groups (NSGs), route tables, and peering.

  • Experience configuring and managing VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity solutions.

  • Solid experience with Azure Load Balancers (Standard and Basic), Application Gateway, and Traffic Manager.

  • Deep understanding of legacy on-premises Windows Server architectures, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, AD CS and file services.

  • Experience with Azure Migrate, including assessment, replication, and cutover of workloads.

  • Proven track record of VM migrations to Azure, including lift-and-shift and re-platforming strategies.

  • Experience implementing and managing Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for disaster recovery scenarios.

  • Hands‑on experience with Azure Backup, including policies, vaults, and recovery procedures.

  • Experience with deploying Azure Virtual Desktop, optimizing and monitoring using Azure monitor and Log analytics.

  • Experience with Azure Storage components (storage accounts, storage tiers, etc).

  • Working knowledge of Azure Active Directory Domain Services (AAD DS) and integration with on‑prem AD.

  • Proven experience deploying and managing AWS EC2 instances, including sizing, configuration, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.

  • Strong understanding of AWS networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, network ACLs, and Transit Gateway.

  • Experience implementing AWS Direct Connect, VPN connectivity, and hybrid networking solutions.

  • Hands‑on experience with AWS storage services including S3, EBS, EFS, and FSx.

  • Experience implementing and managing AWS Backup and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Experience migrating workloads to AWS using AWS Migration Hub, Application Migration Service (MGN), and related migration tools.

  • Knowledge of AWS security services such as GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, and AWS Config.


Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Possess Sr. Level Active Directory experience.

  • Strong knowledge of SAN and backup technologies.

  • Experienced with networking and network/system security.

  • In depth knowledge of Hypervisors, On‑Prem Microsoft Core infrastructure services, Cisco, Palo Alto and other major vendors of infrastructure technology.

  • Understanding of automation, IaaC, terraform and ARM templates, Powershell.

  • Experience with SQL Server, Azure SQL a plus.

  • Experience with deploying and managing Azure Virtual Desktop with Nerdio for MSP a big plus.

  • Experience with Azure AI Foundry is also a big plus.

  • Influence and drive cloud related capabilities, solutions and opportunities in coordination with external partners, operations and application teams.

  • Design and implement secure cloud application environments with centralize identity management.

  • Understanding of load balancing and scalability techniques.
