Job description
You can read more about our company and our innovations in the pages of The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Fast Company, MIT Technology Review, Forbes, Inc. Magazine, Wired and across many whitepapers.
At D-Wave, we're helping customers realize the value of quantum computing today and are shaping the quantum-driven industrial and societal advancements of tomorrow.
About the role
D-Wave is seeking a talented and self-motivated Quantum error correction (QEC) theorist to join our gate-model Quantum Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to novel error correction research and development that will push the boundaries of QEC using our dual-rail cavity qubit architecture. This position is ideal for researchers with a strong foundation in error correction and who also enjoy close scientific collaboration with experimental physicists and engineering teams.
What you'll do
- Conduct pathfinding QEC research tailored for dual-rail cavity qubits for near-term and scalable fault-tolerant computing applications
- Perform research towards fault-tolerant computation using erasure qubits on a broad range of QEC topics, including exploration of error correcting codes, lattice surgery, magic state preparation, decoders, and many more
- Perform logical error rate and resource estimation investigation for QEC architectures
- Design and perform detailed, hardware-accurate simulations of novel QEC protocols
- Contribute meaningfully to D-wave's roadmap to realize fault-tolerant quantum computation with the dual-rail architecture
About You
- Ph.D. and/or a Master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated research track record in QEC codes, fault-tolerant protocols, and/or QEC simulations/modeling
- Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, Rust, Julia, MATLAB, C, C++ or similar)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills especially with working in interdisciplinary teams with professionals from other fields of physics and engineering
A D-Waver's DNA
- We look at the future and say "why not"; we see possibilities where others see problems or routines. We show the way ahead and are committed to achieving ambitious goals.
- We practice straight talk and listen generously to each other with empathy. We value different opinions and points of views. We ensure that we connect outside as well as inside to learn from others and inspire each other.
- We hold ourselves accountable for delivering results. We make decisions & take responsibility so that we can act & support each other.
- As leaders we motivate & engage our teams to undertake beyond what they originally thought possible, by developing our teams & creating the conditions for people to grow and empower themselves through enabling & coaching.
