Job Title: Aquatics Group Exercise Instructor (Portage Location)

Status: Part-Time

Starting Rate: $15.00

Program Hours: Varies but included evenings and weekends based on program needs

Reports to: Portage Aquatics Director

Position Summary:

Instructs group water exercise classes. Provides excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  1. Leads group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  2. Conducts energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.
  3. Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  4. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  5. Keep accurate class attendance records.
  6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergencies.

Qualifications:

  1. CPR/AED/1st Aid - must obtain within first 90 days of employment
  2. Experience in leading or participating in group water wellness programs
  3. Experience teaching or leading groups
  4. Experience instructing group water fitness classes preferred

Work Environment & PhysicalDemands:

  • Ability to conduct classes and activities relating to fitness
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
