Job description

Glen Raven is recuriting for a Project Manager. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and executing all new product development activities from exploration, concept development, and commercialization through launch. The position requires strong cross-functional product development and business process knowledge, superior people leadership skills, functional and project management experience, and business planning knowledge. This position works closely with the product business groups and other functional leaders in the company (product management, engineering, service, manufacturing operations, supply chain, marketing, quality, IT, finance) and is responsible for leading product development projects supporting the Glen Raven business.

The Project Manager will join a growing project management team, a team that partners cross-functionally within Product Management, Marketing, Engineering and other functional areas of the business, to bring unique and dynamic product development and marketing plans to life for powerful consumer brands like Sunbrella, and well-established trade brands from Glen Raven.

This role requires a sharpened eye for detail, strong organization and communication skills, excellent project management practices, quick yet thorough decision-making skills, can be analytical and showcases leadership in their work. This leader encompasses a self-starter attitude, is proactive in their thinking, is resourceful and thrives in a team environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide project management leadership to teams for new product development projects including: creating schedules, building product development plans, integrating the activities of cross-functional team members
  • Lead weekly internal project team status meetings to ensure active project alignment, while forecasting for future project needs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as: internal creative department, marketing managers, sales managers, design leads, and upper management to clarify and ensure market-specific strategies, goals and objectives remain aligned throughout project development to achieve successful project execution.
  • Establish, manage, track and report project budgets.
  • Effectively execute and provide suggestions for improvement of the product development process
  • Utilize the Glen Raven stage gate process as key driver of product development progression.
  • Define and drive Risk and Mitigation plans for projects.
  • Define and lead contingency option assessments when needed, then select and execute mitigation plans
  • Manage attributes and decisions such as make vs. buy, shipping and logistics cost, bidding process
  • Identify, evaluate and document “lessons-learned” during the project and communicate best practices and lessons learned to project team members on future projects

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship, related field, equivalent education, or related training
  • PMP, Project Management Certificate, or other formal Project Management education preferred
  • 5 years of progressive work experience in engineering, project engineering, project management, product management, or related new product development field
  • High level ability to deliver results while working simultaneously on multiple projects, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to influence people and teams who are not direct reports
  • Excellent team building and leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, manufacturing, supply chain, service, customer service, finance, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, flexible and high capacity to learn
