The Jr Tooling Engineer will be responsible for correcting, updating, and maintaining controlled documents pertaining to production tool engineering projects. This includes PDM administrative duties, CAD models & assemblies, bill of materials, engineering change orders, and tool assembly manuals. Other duties include activities focusing on the company objectives in respect to streamlining department efficiency, increasing revenue and cost reduction. This position will be based in our Milford, CT Innovation Center.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Review & update as need existing production tooling documentation to ensure accuracy and associativity of all drawings, models, and assemblies.
  • Ensure all tool documentation project folder content is accurate and follows the guideline defined in the companies file management structure SOP.
  • Design / modify thermoform tooling components & assemblies for new products using company tool standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
  • Develop, maintain and continuously update tool design and fabrication standards to meet company's objectives.
  • Assist designers on tooling projects, such as RFQ's, ECO's, BOM's and other documentation to ensure delivery of tools that meet Inline Plastics requirements.
  • Attend meetings with engineering, manufacturing and maintenance personnel to understand and identify issues as well as the appropriate solutions.
  • Support the development, updating, and revision accuracy of all tool design files and PDP documentation within the companies file management system.
  • Work with product and tooling engineers to recommend long-term improvements to new products and tool designs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering. Alternatively the candidate must have relevant design experience in academic engineering projects, or experience within the plastic manufacturing environment.
  • Fluency in the English language is required.
  • Tool making or machine shop experience is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Skilled in 3D solid modeling software with minimum training certifications in part modeling & assemblies. SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate solid time management competencies.
  • Strong demonstration of solid mathematical & budgeting proficiency. Ability to comprehend and apply principles of statistical theory.
  • Strong analytic skills for problem solving with good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports. The ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
