We recognize the utmost importance of continually advancing our comprehension of diversity, equity, and inclusion as transformative forces within our work, industry, and company values.
At Knutson, opportunities to shine happen daily. We value what makes you different and empower you to act on your ideas.
Knutson Construction is seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Analyst to join our Data & Analytics team. This role plays a key part in advancing Knutson's vision of becoming a data-driven organization by delivering trusted, governed, and business-ready data products that enable better decision-making, operational excellence, self-service analytics, and emerging AI capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing Data & Analytics team at an early stage and help build the function from the ground up. As the second member of the team, the Senior Data Analyst will partner closely with the Data & Analytics Manager and play a critical role in defining how analytics are delivered across the organization. The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and highly collaborative, making it ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure, solving complex problems, and influencing the future direction of modern analytics practice.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Works with stakeholders from across the company to understand business needs and translate them to actionable data products, increase adoption of analytics solutions and embed data-driven decision making into business processes.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains certified business data products that support reporting, Databricks AI/BI, Genie, self-service analytics, and future AI initiatives.
  • Manages change to data assets using GitHub, including branching, pull requests, peer review, and promotion from development through production.
  • Builds and curates the data models and metric views that support accurate, trustworthy results from Databricks AI/BI tools, working from metric definitions established by the analytics lead.
  • Contributes to enterprise data governance efforts by supporting data quality standards, business definitions, data stewardship practices, metric consistency, and trusted data product development.
  • Helps maintain trusted and governed data products aligned with established data ownership, security, and access control standards.
  • Assists in evaluating and improving the quality, accuracy, and user experience of AI-powered analytics and natural-language query solutions.
  • Monitors existing data products for accuracy and continued relevance and retires or rebuilds them as business needs change.
  • Supports and enables our data champions and super users through training, working sessions, and a feedback loop for improving answer quality as AI/BI adoption expands company wide.
  • Shapes and builds upstream datasets in bronze and silver layers as needed to support reporting work.
  • Translates vague or competing business requests into clear requirements and delivers products that get used.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve business processes through analytics, automation, reusable data products, and intelligent self-service capabilities.
  • Be a leader in Knutson's Zero Incident safety culture to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Participation and completion in scheduled and applicable safety training, as determined by the company.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Deep curiosity and a drive to dig past the initial request to understand the true nature of the problem being solved.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships across business units and to facilitate productive conversation in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Understanding data governance concepts including data ownership, stewardship, quality standards, business definitions, access controls, and certified data products.
  • Experience supporting self-service analytics adoption through stakeholder engagement, user enablement, training, documentation, or change management activities.
  • 5+ years' experience in developing interactive data visualizations in PowerBI, Tableau, or similar applications.
  • Fluency in SQL, including the ability to write and review complex analytical queries and to model data rather than simply query it.
  • Strong knowledge of version control practices in GitHub applied to data and analytics assets.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain data and metric decisions to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities in an environment where processes are still being established.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience building analytics and reporting products in a modern cloud data platform, including hands-on experience with Databricks (Unity Catalog, SQL warehouses, notebooks, or SQL editor).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering reporting and analytics products for business stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience building AI/BI dashboards and Genie spaces in Databricks, or comparable experience with a semantic layer and natural-language analytics tooling.
  • Python for data analysis and automation.
  • Proven experience building and scaling analytics capabilities in a startup, consulting, or early-stage business setting.
  • Experience with data product management, semantic model design, or governed self-service analytics environments.
  • Familiarity with Unity Catalog governance concepts including lineage, data classification, access controls, certification practices, and AI governance.
  • Experience supporting AI-enabled analytics, natural-language query tools, or intelligent reporting solutions.
