Job Description:
Job Summary: The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant executes medically prescribed plan of care under the supervision of Physical Therapists for patients in order to prevent illness and disability and restore function following and injury or illness.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
  1. Executes medically prescribed plan of care for patients.
  2. Documents patient treatment activities, responses to interventions, progress toward goals, and associated charges in a timely and accurate manner.
  3. Implements therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  4. Monitors patient responses to treatment and reports changes in condition, progress, or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  5. Educates patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment procedures, home exercise programs, safety precautions, and functional mobility techniques.
  6. Collaborates with Physical Therapists and interdisciplinary team members to support patient care goals and facilitate optimal outcomes.
  7. Maintains compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, safety, and documentation standards applicable to the practice of physical therapy.
  8. Helps patients reach their maximum functional levels by utilizing techniques to improve physical health.
  9. Provides leadership and direction for support staff and Physical Therapist Assistant students.
  10. Participates in professional development and continuing education to insure compliance with licensure laws.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
  • Current licensure by Texas Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners.
