OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.JOB DESCRIPTION

In the modern news landscape, the story doesn't wait for a crew. We are seeking a high-energy, versatile Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) who has the skills to find, shoot, write, and edit compelling content across every platform-from the newscast to a breaking news live stream.

As an MMJ in a Top 10 market, you are a one-person powerhouse. You'll have the editorial freedom to cultivate your own sources and the technical tools to deliver high-quality journalism from the field, whether you're using a professional Sony camcorder or a smartphone.

The Role: What You'll Do

You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of a news story, ensuring our audience gets accurate information first, no matter where they are watching.

  • Enterprise Reporting: Actively participate in the editorial process by using your contacts and sources to cultivate original story ideas daily.

  • Solo Field Production: Shoot, write, and edit high-quality news packages for broadcast and digital platforms.

  • Live Streaming Expert: Produce and present extended, unscripted live content from the field for our live stream, mastering the art of the "mobile journalist" using smartphone technology and accessories.

  • On-Air Presence: Present stories live in-studio and from remote locations, taking full ownership of the final content and delivery.

  • Digital & Social First: Write sharp, effective text copy for our digital sites and maintain an active, engaging presence on X (Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram.

  • On-the-Go Delivery: Travel for overnight assignments and utilize file-based delivery systems to send content back to the station in real-time.

What You Bring to the Table

We are looking for a journalist who is as comfortable with a camera as they are with a keyboard.

  • Technical Proficiency: Significant, current experience with Sony camcorders and Adobe Premiere Pro (or similar NLE systems).

  • Communication & Style: Strong writing skills with a mastery of conversational broadcast style, English grammar, and punctuation.

  • Live Performance: Excellent on-camera delivery with the ability to handle unscripted breaking news situations with poise.

  • Editorial Independence: The confidence to make sound editorial decisions in the field under daily deadline pressure.

  • Public Relations: A polite and professional communicator who can represent the station effectively during promotional appearances and in the community.

Education & Experience

  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience as an MMJ at a commercial television station is preferred.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.

  • Requirements: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
