Job description

The Lawrence Journal-World is seeking a talented sales executive to sell market-leading digital, video, audio and print advertising programs. As Lawrence's oldest and largest media organization, the Journal-World provides the broadest suite of advertising and marketing services to businesses in Douglas County and the surrounding area.

The successful advertising sales executive will have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, a respect for deadlines, and a desire to tie their professional success to increasing the success of businesses throughout the Lawrence area.

The position requires an understanding of basic computer software systems used in modern offices, and reliable transportation, as the position involves a mix of office work and sales calls that has the executive visiting businesses throughout the Lawrence area. . The Journal-World is seeking candidates who have a successful history in sales, especially those with a familiarity in digital sales programs. Applicants who are lacking sales experience but have education in marketing, advertising or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Compensation for the position includes a base salary, a monthly commission program that pays a percentage of sales made, various bonuses, a mileage reimbursement program and a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision insurance, paid vacation, and a retirement plan.

The Journal-World publishes a six-day-per-week newspaper while also serving as the largest digital media organization in the Lawrence area. Products that the advertising sales executive have to offer clients include print advertisements in the Journal-World, digital advertising on LJWorld.com, KUsports.com, and video and audio advertising that run on major websites across the country and on platforms ranging from Hulu to Spotify.

The position is based in our offices in vibrant Lawrence, Kansas. As home to the University of Kansas, Lawrence offers an active arts and entertainment scene, a robust system of trails and parks, major college athletics, and a quintessential live-work-and-play downtown district.
