Job description

The Service Manager at Soup ‘n Fresh is a hands-on operational leader responsible for driving daily FOH excellence. This role ensures high guest satisfaction, upholds service standards, and facilitates team accountability. The Service Manager will oversee pre-shift execution, service recovery, team timekeeping, compliance with safety procedures, and technology-driven tools including Jolt, SpotOn, 7Shifts, and MarginEdge. A strong grasp of floor presence, guest interaction, and operational flow is expected.

 

Key Responsibilities:

FOH Operations & Service Flow

  • Lead floor management during meal periods ensuring guest satisfaction and efficient table turnover.
  • Host daily pre-shift meetings to communicate goals, team assignments, and service priorities.
  • Monitor and coach sidework execution and break coverage for all FOH roles.
  • Serve as liaison between staff and management, addressing guest service issues promptly and effectively.
  • Perform clock-in oversight and approve time punches and corrections.

Compliance, Quality & Safety

  • Verify food temperature, quality, and presentation throughout buffet and food bar service.
  • Use digital tools (Jolt, temperature probes) to perform scheduled safety and facility checks.
  • Ensure chemical safety and machine operation standards are followed.
  • Investigate and log any guest or facility issues using approved incident reporting protocols.

Administrative Tools & Accountability

  • Maintain accuracy across SpotOn functions (comps, discounts, refunds, gift cards, reopen checks).
  • Ensure timely and correct use of 7Shifts for break tracking, roster reviews, and time card logs.
  • Oversee daily roster, approve margin entries, and log waste data into MarginEdge.
  • Review Jolt checklist completion reports and flag any late or missed entries.

Inventory & Ordering

  • Assist with end-of-day counts and order entries.
  • Validate FOH ingredient levels, storage procedures, and FIFO compliance.
  • Assist in labeling/prepping backup items for high-volume times.

Technology Use

  • Troubleshoot common device and software issues (POS, iPads, printers).
  • Ensure all FOH team members complete tasks in Jolt, 7Shifts, and other platforms as required.
  • Follow up with staff for incomplete logs or facility checklist misses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years FOH supervisory experience in fast-paced or buffet-style dining preferred.
  • Proficient with SpotOn, Jolt, and 7Shifts platforms (training provided if needed).
  • California Food Handler Card required.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills with ability to delegate and follow up.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform light physical labor including moving equipment and cleaning.

Work Schedule & Expectations:

  • Full-time hourly or salaried based on experience and availability.
  • Must be available weekends and holidays, with flexible opening/closing availability.
