Job description

Postdoctoral Position in Statistical Genetics

Job description:

Applications are invited for a joint postdoctoral position with Dr. Liming Liang, Professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, and Dr. Michael Cho, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and the Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and part of Mass General Brigham.

The position is part of an ongoing R01-funded project that aims to decipher the genetic and genomic factors underlying the heterogeneity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It uses an unprecedented collection of blood and lung transcriptomic and proteomic data, along with new metabolomics data, and a far-ranging collection of individual-level genetic datasets, including COPDGene, Trans-Omics in Precision Medicine (TOPMed), the International COPD Genetics Consortium, the UK Biobank, Mass General Brigham Biobank, and AllOfUs.

The selected candidate will lead the development and evaluation of multi-trait GWAS approaches to decipher the pleiotropic structure underlying COPD genetics. It will be built on extended preliminary work conducted by the team over the past year. Key data have already been cleaned and preprocessed and are ready for immediate use. It is a highly collaborative project, and the candidate will interact in particular with genetic epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and computational science engineers.

Qualifications: PhD in Statistical Genetics, Biostatistics, Genetic Epidemiology, or equivalent domain. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background and experience in genetic data analysis.

Candidates should submit their resume, the names of two references, and a cover letter to Dr. Liming Liang (LLIANG@hsph.harvard.edu) and Dr. Michael Cho (michael.cho@channing.harvard.edu).  Promising candidates will be invited for interviews and a presentation. Funding for this position is available immediately, but start time is flexible.
