HVAC Project Manager - Special Projects/JOC
Special Projects / JOC Division
Reports To: VP of Operations
Location: Corporate Office: 303 W Elliott Rd, Tempe, AZ 85284 - travel to job sites across the Greater Phoenix Area
Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 annually, pay rate determined in interview
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager of Special Projects leads project planning, estimating, and execution for JOC (Job Order Contract) and special commercial HVAC and plumbing projects. This role manages scheduling, resource allocation, quality assurance, purchasing, risk management, and safety compliance from project kickoff through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to industry standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning & Scheduling
  • Lead project planning and develop detailed schedules for project activities, ensuring timely completion.
  • Practice the allocation of resources effectively across project activities.

Estimating & Documentation
  • Estimate and prepare transparent proposals that adhere to the terms of each JOC Contract.
  • Prepare project documents for submission to owners and engineers.

Quality & Risk Management
  • Implement QA/QC procedures to meet industry standards.
  • Proactively assess safety hazards, schedule delays, and budget overruns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices throughout the project.

Purchasing & Closeout
  • Manage purchasing to ensure all purchase orders serve the best interest of Tempe Mechanical and its clients.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including final inspections and turnover.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC.
  • Strong leadership skills; punctual and dependable.
  • Higher education and/or college degree.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience working on projects involving hospitals and schools.
  • Software proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Fast Pipe/Fast Duct.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction principles and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and customer service.
