French Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Must be available a minimum of two weeknights (Monday to Thursday) per week. Saturday availability is an asset. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. 

Bilingual language proficiency is required (French/English)

Oxford Learning Beaches has an opening for an upbeat, passionate, committed, enthusiastic, and dynamic French teacher who seeks work in a rewarding teaching environment. Our French Programs offer individual support to students looking to improve their academic skills and study habits. Candidates must possess a strong passion for seeing students succeed and must be comfortable teaching students ranging in age from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in French.

Tutor-teachers at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (3:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00am - 3:00pm). A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must. Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English and be comfortable teaching up to a Grade 9 level, but up to Grade 12 is preferred. The candidate is required to instruct class sessions in French.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 French core curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong French skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
