Position Summary

Crew Members are responsible for providing our guests with an extraordinary experience by arriving to work as scheduled with clean and professional attire, performing their job safely, and preparing our food to the highest quality in a clean & professional environment.

Pay range: $17.00 to $24.00 plus tips to start

What’s in it for you?

We offer a base salary between $17.00 to $24.00 (depending on experience) + tips. While we can’t guarantee an hourly tip rate, our average rate for 2024 was $3.80 per hour company wide.

The following duties are normal for this position:

Guest Service & Sales

  • Provides excellent guest service by recognizing guest needs in a timely and efficient manner. This includes, and not limited to, greeting guests, taking orders and customizing every guest’s meal.
  • Customizes and completes every order which includes:
    • collecting payment and making change as needed,
    • preparing and assembling order, including filling drinks, preparing & bagging fries/sides, and gathering food items and,
    • ensuring orders are complete and accurate after delivering orders to guests in a timely manner.
  • Interacts with guests to ensure all needs/expectations are exceeded including communicating vendor stories and suggesting new products.
  • Maintains the dining area in a clean and neat manner including clearing and wiping tables, sweeping, spot mopping, cleaning window/door glass and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Maintains work areas in a neat, clean and sanitized manner.
  • Maintains restroom cleanliness and replenish all items to ensure guests are taken care This includes cleaning all areas of the parking lot and patio, restrooms and preparing the restrooms for the next day after closing.
  • Maintains in-use stock including straws, napkins, cups, lids, ice, condiments, etc., at adequate levels.
  • Puts away stock and rotates products as Includes using appropriate day labelling and stocking procedures to ensure food and facility safety.
  • Maintains all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Interacts with all members of the team to ensure guest needs and expectations are met.
  • Maintains knowledge of recipes, builds, and ingredient attributes as well as allergen information for every menu item.

Food Production

  • Keeps area stocked with necessary Includes using appropriate rotation and time/temperature standards for food safety for prepped items.
  • Prepares Burgerville products, including portioning, preparing, cooling, and assembling menu items to proper specifications.
  • Knows all allergens present in our menu and follows proper handling to reduce allergen cross contamination.
  • Follows procedures and processes for food safety and quality. Reviews recipes and product builds on a regular basis.
  • Participates in ongoing product and production training to ensure a clear understanding and ability to execute the standard for all menu items.
  • Maintains work areas in a neat, clean and sanitized.
  • Puts away stock and rotates products as Includes using appropriate day labelling and stocking procedures to ensure food and facility safety.
  • Follows safe food handling and cooking procedures including but not limited to hand washing, taking food temperatures, rotating product, and storing food appropriately.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning and sanitation of equipment.
  • Uses all personnel protective and safety equipment and maintains equipment log.

Other

  • Maintains confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters.
  • Stays aware of all ordering channels such as delivery, mobile, dine-in, call-in, and take-out orders to ensure timing and assembly of all the different ways to order is being delivered.
  • Assumes responsibility for other tasks and projects as assigned by management.

Education/Experience Required

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Food Handlers Certificate/Card – can be obtained online.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its application.
  • Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with guests and coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Ability to suggest new products and maintain knowledge of all ingredients and flavor profiles, including allergens.
  • Ability to maintain punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to communicate and conduct excellent interpersonal interactions with others in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions and request clarification when needed.
  • Ability to meets operating standards, including providing quality beverages and food products and adhering to food and safety standards.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of this position are limited to those found in a normal restaurant environment and thus requires the wearing of non-slip shoes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, lift/carry, use the hands to feel/handle/manipulate objects, talk, hear, reach above shoulder/outward, vision – close, peripheral, depth, color, ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is frequently required to stoop, bend, squat, push, pull, twist, turn.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl.
  • The employee must routinely lift up to 35 pounds.

Work Environment

  • The work environment is constrained to a standard, conditioned restaurant space.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, floor hazards, fluctuating temperatures, hot liquids and surfaces, chemicals, general public, cold (non-weather) from accessing the walk in freezer for short periods of time for organizing, putting away stock and pulling appropriate products.
  • Work environment requires use of personal protective equipment including gloves.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to sounds such as beeping, headset use, guests and crew members talking, etc.
