What is a job fair?

A job fair is an event where employers and job seekers meet, usually in a large venue or virtually, to discuss employment opportunities. Employers set up booths or tables to share information about their companies and available positions, while job seekers can network, submit resumes, and sometimes participate in on-the-spot interviews. Job fairs are valuable for networking, learning about different organizations, and discovering new career paths. They are often organized by universities, recruitment agencies, or community organizations and can be targeted towards specific industries or open to the general public.

What should I expect in terms of networking and employer interaction at a job fair?

At a job fair, you can expect a dynamic environment where you'll interact directly with recruiters and hiring managers from various organizations. It's common to have brief, focused conversations where you can introduce yourself, ask questions about open positions, and share your resume. The atmosphere is typically fast-paced, so being prepared with an elevator pitch and thoughtful questions is key. Networking is a central activity, and making a positive impression can lead to interview invitations or valuable professional connections.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a job fair coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Job Fair Coordinator, you need strong organizational abilities, event planning experience, and a background in human resources or marketing. Familiarity with event management software, online registration platforms, and CRM systems is typically required. Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills help you engage both employers and job seekers effectively. These skills ensure seamless event execution, high participant satisfaction, and successful networking outcomes.

Job description

Who We Are

CoVolt Power is a leading utility-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) company specializing in the design and delivery of solar, battery energy storage (BESS), and high-voltage infrastructure. Since its founding in 2005, the company has built a reputation for de-risking project delivery and providing creative, integrated solutions that span the power and digital infrastructure sectors.

Consistently ranked as a top-tier EPC, CoVolt Power leverages a mission-driven approach to safety and quality, delivering thousands of megawatts in renewable assets that support a more resilient and sustainable energy future for developers, utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), and data center operators across North America.

The Role

Our Field Engineer (FE) Interns will work on a solar construction project site, gaining exposure to the Field Engineer (FE) role. The Field Engineer (FE) is an entry-level, field-based position responsible for the support and execution of an assigned scope for project construction, from early phases of preconstruction through final acceptance of the project by the client. The position works closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and supports Superintendents.

Candidates selected for this internship are expected to relocate to the project site for the duration of the 12-week internship during Summer 2027. This internship is an hourly position and will be eligible for overtime and per diem.

Internship

  • The goal of this internship is to provide each intern with real-world experience in construction management. They will be assigned responsibilities, not just tasks, that directly contribute to a live project to make an impact.
  • We encourage our interns to "harness their creative energy" and gain experience to see what it takes to become a successful contributor to a project management team
  • Each intern is to give a companywide presentation at the conclusion of the internship program showcasing their summer internship, what they learned, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled within a university in either Sophomore, Junior, or going into Senior year working toward their degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical or electrical engineering) or construction management/science, with an interest in pursuing a construction or project management career
  • Computer literacy and proficiency using Microsoft tools, especially Excel.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, including application and use in problem solving.
  • Strong coordination, time management, active listening, verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic exposure to technical and administrative phases of project management
  • Basic exposure/ability to read & understand IFC drawings and job specifications for civil and electrical work

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to relocate to construction site for duration of the 12-week internship.
  • Ability to walk active job sites while adhering to safety requirements.

Important Interview Policy: To ensure a focused conversation and protect the privacy of both our candidates and team members, the use of AI note-takers, recording devices, or real-time transcription software is strictly prohibited during this interview. If an unauthorized bot joins the meeting, our team will ask for it to be removed before beginning the interview. Thank you for your cooperation!
