Position summary: Responsible for leading JMT's highvalue, complex projects in the New Jersey region to ensure highquality delivery across scope, schedule, and budget. The Senior Project Manager initiates the project life cycle by identifying leads and driving marketing efforts in targeted growth areas. In addition to project leadership, this individual will spearhead business development initiatives and actively support the strategic growth of the region. The role includes providing strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project teams while ensuring all project activities remain aligned with JMT's organizational goals.

Compensation is $180,000 to $205,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and licensure.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Manage project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk averse project scope and fee.
  • Develop project-specific project plans, including Project Management Plans/Quality Management Plans.
  • Create and maintain project schedules.
  • Manage subconsultants.
  • Monitor and execute project progress, including identifying and mitigating risks, developing extra work order requests, and open-end contract task proposals.
  • Communicate project status, updates, and issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and lead project status presentations.
  • Coordinate and guide all technical resources within the project team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality outcome.
  • Leverage advanced knowledge and experience with the client and project type to analyze the project, anticipate potential risks (such as overruns and scope changes), and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Implement strategies for project tracking and reporting by using project performance metrics to foresee and mitigate issues.

Marketing and Business Development

  • Build relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to set-up and execute a quality project.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of clients and other industry stakeholders.
  • Identify leads with targeted clients for development and execution into contract opportunities.
  • Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process, including SMART Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy.
  • Collaborate with Section Head and Office Leader on identifying leads and opportunities based on strategic goals.
  • Assist Section Head and Office Leader with developing strategic goals based on client's program information, etc.

Financial Performance

  • Participate in office's project financial status meetings.
  • Prepare progress reports and review invoices.

People Management

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to the project team through one-on-one check-ins and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned.
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meetings, coaching) that supports the growth and development of the team.
