Candidates experienced as USAF/USSF acquisition officers (AFSC: 63A) or developmental engineers (AFSC: 62E) leading satellite programs in the USSF (SSC), NRO, or SDA, applying the full range of the systems engineering discipline (e.g., Requirements Development, Architecture, SE milestones: SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.), and/or DAWIA/PMI Program Management will be especially well-prepared to excel.

Job Description:

This position is for a Facilities/Logistics Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA supporting cutting-edge and innovative space programs. The Facilities/Logistics Systems Engineer bridges security compliance with physical facility operations and supply chain management, ensuring secure, compliant transport, storage, and handling unclassified to highly sensitive classified materials.  In addition, the candidate selected for the Facilities/Logistics Systems Engineer role will be responsible for coordinating across various locations at government and contractor sites on transport and storage.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end transport of unclassified and classified materials, including identifying, packing, shipping, and conducting joint inventories of items.
  • Conduct audits, inventory reconciliations, and inspections to ensure proper tracking of unclassified to classified assets and materials in accordance with security protocols.
  • Develop and execute Operations Security (OPSEC) plans, providing oversight for secure logistics and protecting against risks to test and training activities.
  • Initiate inquiries into potential security incidents (loss or compromise of classified information), conduct investigations, and generate damage assessment reports.

  • TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.
  • Bachelors degree is required. Masters degree is preferred.
  • Acquisition experience including development of CDRLs, SOWs, evaluation of vendors.
  • Experience providing programmatic support (evaluate vendor program plans, schedules, risks, etc.) to logistics efforts
  • Previous experience in logistics management in support of DoD or satellite programs (preferably in a DoD SAP environment).
  • Familiarity with secure transportation procedures and logistics systems for tracking assets.
  • Conducts annual self-inspections and develop corrective action plans to ensure compliance with NISPOM, DoDM 5205.07, and JSIG regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment.
  • Experience with the Intelligence Community or the Department of Defense Satellite Program Office best practices.  
  • Experience facilitating and running large, program-level meetings.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse audience of senior decision makers with varying levels of programmatic and technical expertise.
  • Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment with no supervision.
  • Active TS/SCI Required.
  • Previous SAP experience Preferred.
