Description
The Learning and Development and Process Manager at Jimerson Birr operates at the intersection of professional growth and operational excellence, and has earned the autonomy to build a training function that matches the firm's ambitions for its people. This is not a conventional L&D role, and this is not a conventional seat within it.

In this role, you will build and administer JB University's curriculum, own the onboarding experience for every new hire, and put in place the technology, documentation, and processes that let attorneys and staff perform at their best. The programs you build directly shape how quickly new hires ramp up, how consistently our teams execute, and how the firm sustains the culture that has made it one of Florida's "Best Companies to Work For."
Key Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
Develop, Implement, and Administer JB Training Program aligned with JB University
Develop and manage a comprehensive training program, ensuring objectives are met and coordinating the technical completion of training evaluations and certifications aligned with JB University vision. Oversee the creation and quality control of Learning Management System technology and content to align with firm standards, and conduct regular audits of training materials and job descriptions for accuracy and effectiveness. Organizes, staffs, and coordinates all aspects of Professional Development Committee.
Oversee and Execute all JB Orientation & Onboarding Process
Manage the development and quality control of orientation and onboarding content for the LMS, ensuring materials are up-to-date and track employee progress from the outset. Oversee the execution of the onboarding process, monitoring task completion by SMEs and ensuring a smooth transition of new hires to their respective supervisors within the set timeframe.
Innovate, Implement and Optimize L&D Technology and Vendor Relationships
Develop and maintain training technology platforms, ensuring up-to-date and functional tracking systems like the LMS 365 and various training dashboards that monitor both program-wide and individual progress. Oversee the creation and ongoing management of comprehensive training calendars within the LMS.
Needs Assessment, Curriculum Design and Training Event Hosting
Coordinate and manage Training Tuesdays, organizing logistics and scheduling for advanced and firm-wide training sessions, complete with meals and snacks. Design and implement soft skills and firm-wide training programs using a blend of LMS content and expert group instruction, maintaining detailed training calendars. Additionally, liaise with external vendors to supplement training needs and host events at the firm's premises. Regularly conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and designs tailored curriculum programs to address these needs, ensuring that the firm's workforce remains competitive and proficient in essential legal and professional skills.
Oversee Core Process Documentation
Oversee the documentation of core processes to ensure all operational procedures are standardized, readily accessible, and tied to accountability charts and job description.
Maintain Legal Licensure/CLE/Board Certification compliance and budget
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, training program management, or organizational development, ideally within a law firm or other professional services environment.
Hands-on experience administering a Learning Management System (LMS 365, Trainual, or a comparable platform), including content development, progress tracking, and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to conduct needs assessments and design curriculum for both technical/legal skills and soft-skills training, from concept through evaluation.
Strong process orientation, with experience standardizing procedures, documentation, and accountability structures across a team or department.
Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives, vendor relationships, and event logistics simultaneously.
A methodical, detail-oriented, and structured work style, someone who is patient and disciplined about building reliable systems rather than reacting to constant urgency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the presence to engage attorneys and staff at all levels of the firm.
Experience tracking professional licensure, CLE, or board certification compliance and managing an associated budget is a plus.
