Position Overview

Metric5 is seeking a motivated Full Stack JavaScript Developer to join a highly visible mission project for our NGA customer.

In this role, your primary focus will be designing, building, and maintaining robust web applications using React, Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript within a modern cloud-native ecosystem. You will also assist with integrating, optimizing, and supporting the application's underlying data streaming infrastructure, CDC pipelines, and OpenSearch capabilities. You will work closely with cross-functional Agile teams, test engineers, and product stakeholders to ensure high application performance, seamless UX, and reliable data accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create fast, accessible, and responsive user interfaces using React, Material-UI, and Redux Toolkit.Develop robust REST APIs with NestJS and TypeORM backed by relational databases (MariaDB/MySQL) and search platforms (Opensearch, Solr).
  • Write clean, maintainable code backed by automated unit and integration tests using modern JavaScript testing frameworks (Vitest, Jest, Testing Library).
  • Deploy and support applications on OpenShift/Kubernetes managed via Helm charts and ArgoCD within a GitOps workflow.
  • Contribute to the tuning of OpenSearch indexes and data pipelines to maintain fast, scalable data retrieval for NestJS services.Assist with maintaining and monitoring real-time Change Data Capture (CDC) and streaming data pipelines (Debezium, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Vector) that feed system search engines.
  • Support the integration of semantic/vector search features (e.g., OpenSearch k-NN) and data enrichment workflows to power advanced application analytics.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on web application development.
  • 7+ years with TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • 7+ years with React, state management (Redux Toolkit), routing, and UI libraries (Material-UI).
  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Vite, and responsive design patterns.
  • 7+ years with Node.js and server-side frameworks (preferably NestJS).
  • Experience with ORMs (TypeORM) and relational databases (MariaDB / MySQL).
  • Proficiency in using AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to write, test, and refactor clean code efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience designing RESTful APIs and documenting with OpenAPI/Swagger.
  • Practical experience querying and integrating OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
  • Baseline understanding of event-driven architectures and data streaming (Kafka, CDC/Debezium).
  • At least 3 years of experience in an Agile/SAFe/Scrum environment building enterprise products.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Helm, or GitOps deployment workflows.
  • Security+ Certification

Desired Skills

  • Exposure to vector databases (OpenSearch k-NN), semantic search, or AI model integration.
  • Hands-on exposure to Apache Flink or Vector data routers.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Redis caching, and authentication patterns (OAuth2/OIDC, Keycloak, JWT).
  • SAFe certification

Education: Bachelors in a Technical Discipline – Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree (Desired not required)

Salary Range: $140,000 to $170,000 annually
