POSITION: Development Lead LOCATION: Huntsville, AL SCOPE: Serves as a Development Lead on a major IT services contract for the U.S. Army RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary development team, driving performance, collaboration, and innovation. * Oversee task management and ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and objectives. * Collaborate closely with program leadership to align application enhancements with program requirements. * Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Java code for applications, frameworks, or systems, contributing as an active development team member. * Code Reviews: Provide constructive feedback on Java code written by other team members to maintain high coding standards and ensure best practices. * Debugging and Maintenance: Identify and resolve bugs, performance issues, and technical debt in existing Java codebases. * Technical Proof of Concepts (POCs): Develop prototypes for new features, architectures, or technologies using Java to demonstrate feasibility. * Standards Implementation: Establish and enforce strong Java development standards, including design patterns, modular architecture, and reusable libraries. * Identify, evaluate, and pilot new technologies, ensuring successful integration into existing program frameworks. * Define and implement strategies for technology refresh cycles, sustaining program relevance with emerging market and mission needs. * Collaborate with technology providers and research teams to assess applicability to program needs. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience. * Track record of leading development teams and managing complex technical projects. * Proficiency in writing scripts for automation (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform). * Practical experience with legacy Java, JSP, native JavaScript, HTML, CSS and MSSQL along with client-side JavaScript libraries (e.g., JQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap). * Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle. * Proven experience with secure coding practices, object-oriented design, and building, testing, and deploying applications.
