Job description

W2: Java Developer - (Hybrid, McLean, VA)
Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Experience: 8+ years
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a high-impact engineering team . The ideal candidate is a hands-on backend developer with 8+ years of strong Java development experience and a proven track record of delivering scalable, enterprise-grade applications in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Note: Prior Fannie Mae experience is required for this role. Only candidates with previous Fannie Mae project experience will be considered.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications using Java / J2EE and related frameworks.
Build and consume RESTful APIs / microservices to support enterprise business needs.
Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and QA teams across the full SDLC in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code; participate in code reviews and design discussions.
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance and reliability.
Support deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and production releases.
Required Skills & Qualifications
8+ years of professional software development experience with Core Java / J2EE.
Strong experience with Spring / Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience with RESTful web services, SQL/relational databases, and ORM frameworks.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle) and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Mandatory: Prior Fannie Mae work experience.


Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience in mortgage, banking, or financial services domains.
Exposure to containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and messaging systems (Kafka).


Work Authorization
Must be able to work onsite in McLean, VA, 3 days per week (hybrid).
