Position Overview: 

NISC is seeking a software developer to join our Platform Team and help build and enhance the cloud-based services and security solutions that power our technology ecosystem. In this role, you'll work alongside a talented team of engineers to develop platform capabilities that support application development, improve operational efficiency, and deliver secure, scalable experiences for our users.

This position will contribute to initiatives focused on cloud technologies, application security, identity and access management, and portal experiences. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building reliable enterprise applications, and driving continuous improvements that strengthen the foundation of NISC's products and services.

Essential Functions: 

  • Develop and enhance cloud-native applications and platform services using modern software engineering practices and technologies.
  • Complete complex software maintenance and enhancements independently
  • Analyze and translate advanced level user requirements and design into software, with a focus on multiple areas of the solution.
  • Build and support identity, authentication, and access management solutions to improve security and user experience across NISC platforms
  • Create, test, and deploy scalable APIs, integrations, and backend services that support enterprise applications and cloud infrastructure.
  • Research, analyze and partner with architects, engineers, and product stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and drive continuous platform improvements.
  • Work closely with development teams to research, design, and implement new features.
  • Leverage generative AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity, creativity, and problem-solving within the scope of the role.
  • Follow industry and organizational best practices
  • Keep up with technology trends and innovations in your field of practice

Desired Experience and Skills: 

  • Generally, requires 6+ years' experience in software development or infrastructure.
  • Experience with Java, Springboot, Gradle, Angular.
  • Experience with building and running containers (Docker).
  • Proficient with Python and Terraform.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or SAML.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of application security and secure software development principles.
  • Experience with cloud providers (AWS) is a plus.
  • Experience with SSO and IDPs is a plus.
  • Proficient with Git.

Work Schedule: 

  • Hybrid from one of our office locations:

  • Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of working 3 day per week out of an office location and ability to work up to all 5 days a week from an office location
  • Required Days from an Office Location: Tuesday and Wednesday - the third required day will be up to the candidate and their supervisor to choose
