Job description

The Software Developer is responsible for supporting development efforts supporting A50 NSWCDD for the Tomahawk program at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by operating in key development role with design, peer review, coding, and troubleshooting support.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Works independently while performing:
Oversee the entire software development life-cycle, including design, development, and implement applications using Java, JavaFX, and Guice, and employ Gradle for building, automating the compilation, testing, and deployment of the application.
Use Git for local development and GitLab for configuration management, including handling merge requests and maintaining code repositories.
Lead and mentor a team of junior developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Engage in our DevSecOps pipeline to compile code, execute unit tests, verify code coverage, and analyze results from SonarQube scans.
Plan, prioritize, and coordinate development tasks to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
Design and implement scalable and maintainable software architectures that align with project requirements.
Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing code for maximum performance.
Use SonarQube to perform static code analysis, identify potential vulnerabilities, and ensure code quality.
Analyze complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for projects, including design specifications and user guides.
Participate in Agile methodologies and development process such as serving as a member of a scrum team, conduct peer reviews, participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and using JIRA for ticket management and Confluence for documentation.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend tools or practices to enhance team productivity.
Work with VMWare Workstation to create and manage virtualized development environments on local machines.
Manage artifacts generated from GitLab using Artifactory and facilitate customer deliveries through Nexus.

LEVEL 4: $145,000.00 to $175,000.00 annually, DOE

SECURITY CLEARANCE
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
