Job description

The Sr. Software Developer is responsible for supporting development efforts supporting A50 NSWCDD for the Tomahawk program at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by operating in key development role with design, peer review, coding, and troubleshooting support.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Has strong Independence to act while performing the following:
Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications using Java, JavaFX, and Guice.
Use Git for local development and GitLab for configuration management, including handling merge requests and maintaining code repositories.
Leading and participating in the full software development life-cycle, from concept to deployment. Employ Gradle for building and automating the compilation, testing, and deployment of the application.
Engage in our DevSecOps pipeline to compile code, execute unit tests, verify code coverage, and analyze results from SonarQube scans
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, internal, and external stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions.
Establish clear code review guidelines, use tools for automation, and focus on constructive feedback, ensuring that reviews are efficient and contribute to high-quality code. Use SonarQube to perform static code analysis, identify potential vulnerabilities, and ensure code quality.
Mentoring mid-level developers and providing technical guidance to the team.
Contributing to technical documentation and software architecture decisions.
Manage artifacts generated from GitLab using Artifactory and facilitate customer deliveries through Nexus.
Implementing security measures and data protection protocols.
Work with VMWare Workstation to create and manage virtualized development environments on local machines
Participate in Agile methodologies such as serving as a member of a scrum team, conduct peer reviews, participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming, using JIRA for ticket management and Confluence for documentation.
Implement a systematic approach, including profiling, testing, and refactoring during troubleshooting, debugging, and optimization of code for maximum performance.

SECURITY CLEARANCE
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
