As a Principal Test and Validation Engineer you will be responsible to develop and improve processes by analyzing product specifications to determine appropriate designs and processes to support customer requirements concerning manufacturability & testing. Apply knowledge to develop, test, modify, and create solutions through a collaborative effort with various teams and provide technical direction for the test and troubleshooting of complex electronic assemblies and test equipment. This role will also cover design engineering duties for specific lines of electronic & electromechanical products by developing prototypes, performing qualification testing & initiating Engineering Changes to drawings & specifications. Selected candidate will actively work on developing mistake proof solutions to manufacturability issues as well as client failure issues for specific product family. 

This position is based at our Santa Isabel, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What You Will Do

  • Utilize in-depth product and test equipment knowledge to resolve production issues quickly and reduce downtime.

  • Scalable Test Environments: Develop robust, scalable test systems, collaborating with test equipment maintenance and engineering teams to ensure reliability and implement improvements.

  • Provide technical troubleshooting for hardware testing and support defect resolution through root cause analysis (RCCA) and corrective measures to prevent recurrence.

  • Analyze production test data to ensure compliance, identify trends, and drive process and testing strategy improvements.

  • Maintain accurate and accessible test-related documentation, ensuring all guidelines are up-to-date and adhered to during rework and retesting.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvement by analyzing test data, optimizing methodologies, and implementing best practices.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration among stakeholders in Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program Offices to align goals and objectives.

  • Ensure safety requirements are met for products, personnel, and test environments, promoting a culture of safety and ongoing improvement.

  • Accountability, proactive problem-solving, and fostering collaboration to achieve operational excellence and sustain production quality.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating in English (verbal and written).

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Experience in manufacturing test or test equipment

  • Advanced to expert knowledge of functional & electronics test equipment (e.g., Power Meters, Oscilloscopes, Integrated Circuit Testing, Thermal Testing, Vibration Testing)

  • Proficiency in test software suites like TestStand and LabView

  • Proficiency in PLC & HMI Programming

  • Strong skills in test and fault isolation, as well as statistical data analysis

  • Comprehensive ability to interpret test requirements, schematic diagrams, and technical drawings

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and shop floor tools like SAP &  Solumina

  • Practical knowledge of statistical evaluation tools, including SPC and data distribution analysis

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage dynamic workloads

  • Self-driven and efficient in teamwork-oriented environments

  • Proven initiative, accountability, and commitment to responsibilities
