Job description

Developer Supporting AWS Cloud Applications for ETF Trading Applications

Responsibilities

  • Our global ETF trading team is continuing the journey to refactor mission-critical ETF Trading applications using the latest cloud technologies.
  • The team supports the lifecycle of functions for Vanguard ETF trading activities in the primary markets in six domiciles around the globe.
  • With internal and external web sites, we are in the process of building out new UIs and new microservices and databases into the AWS framework using ECS Fargate, Kinesis, Dynamo DB, Aurora PostgreSQL, Lambda, serverless technologies, Cloudwatch and other AWS tools. In addition, we have a large initiative to migrate our security services from siteminder to OKTA and Auth0, and also to position our applications for running in an AWS MultiRegion architecture.
  • There are opportunities to use your Java skills or Python to build new REST services in AWS, work on the UI (angular or react), interact with the AWS databases, and more as part of this full-stack team. Use your investment industry knowledge to work closely with our business partners as we pursue new technical solutions to support our capital markets teams, front office, back office and others.

In this role you will

  • Leverage your expert level IT technical lead services and direction for critical software, middleware, and/or hardware projects (e.g., applications, networks, communications, and client server technologies) on multiple platforms. Provide technical expertise in systems, technical infrastructure, tools, modeling, external interfaces, and other technical areas.
  • Use your skills and experience in Java, cloud, and the investment industry to complete complex development, design, implementation, architecture design and maintenance activities.
  • We will require you to communicate with project managers on a frequent basis. Identify tasks and issues that may have an impact on service levels or schedules while providing realistic task and cost estimates.
  • We will have you also participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the PLC to identify issues. This includes participation as a technical consultant at other project meetings which includes presenting technical status and landmark reviews.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience Eight years’ experience in technical specialty.
  • Strong Java skills with REST services Or strong Python skills would also fit into our needs. Experience in test automation, and support for integration, security, and end-to-end test automation.
  • Strong, proven analysis and analytical skills
  • Prior investment/financial services industry
  • Expertise in Full product life cycle and IT vendor product assessment Specializations that’ll make an impact
  • Architecture design with a wide range of technologies within technical specialty - from state of the art to legacy systems
  • Performance and stress testing with security, migration, and integration
  • AWS certification is preferable in one of the following domains: AWS Developer, Architect, Experience in engineering at least one of AWS services such as EC2, Cloud formation, EMR, AWS S3, Glue, etc.
  • Experience in at least one of programming languages such as Java and Python
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline tools like Bamboo, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Ansible, Nexus, etc.
