Job description

Provide instruction (classes and labs) within specific programs; assist academic administrators with curriculum development, student advising, program enrollment; and provide institutional support and community service. Fully support the College's mission and strategic plan initiatives. This position would support the Lafayette campus.
The purpose of a Faculty Fellow position is to provide meaningful teaching experience for recent graduates of masters or doctoral programs with limited classroom experience.
One academic-year contract with a potential for a second academic-year contract. Contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. Two-year maximum allowed per individual per region.
This position is eligible for full-time employee benefits with exception of retirement benefits and tuition reimbursement.

Teaching:

Teach undergraduate courses in artificial intelligence and related disciplines.

Develop new courses and instructional materials in areas such as:

  • Machine Learning
  • Deep Learning
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Responsible and Ethical AI
  • Data Mining and Analytic
  • Incorporate hands-on projects and industry-relevant tools into coursework.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Collaborate with faculty across departments.
  • Mentor students on research, internships, and career development.

Program Development and Service:

Assist in developing AI curricula and academic programs.
Participate in departmental meetings and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Instruction: Deliver assigned classes in accordance with college loading policy and course objectives. Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and other course materials. Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required. Maintain a safe, quality classroom/ lab, including equipment, supplies, inventory and maintenance.

Professional Development: Participate in professional development or other activities that may include in-services, courses, or seminars to advance instructional and technical skills as well as knowledge within the field of study.

Community Service: Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance the college's relationships within its service area as appropriate for department/school.

Institutional Support: Provide institutional support as expected by college administration that may include curriculum development, classroom management, accreditation efforts, committee and task force assignments, attendance at commencement or other activities that are college-wide or specific to the department/school of the faculty member.

Advising: Provide student advising support as expected by college administration that may include assistance during pre-and regular registration periods and during posted office hours.

Program Management: Maintain office hours in accordance with the faculty loading guidelines in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM). Support Program Chair in program management activities.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Assist in the recruitment of students.
Develop community/industry contacts.
Serve and participate in campus, regional, and College-wide professional and community activities, committee meetings, and task forces.
Participate in student recognition ceremonies. Maintain budget requirements.

Tools/Equipment Needed: Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction. The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Compensation: $55,000 salary base calculated on a 9-month academic year contract. Optional summer contract available based on enrollment and staffing needs.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field by the appointment start date.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of artificial intelligence.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Industry experience in AI or machine learning.
  • Commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
