Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate within Chief Operating Office (COO) Technology to support Platform & Infrastructure Transformation and AI & Automation Enablement initiatives. COO Technology delivers technology solutions and manages application portfolios that support enterprise operations, resiliency, data services, and customer experience, driving modernization and optimization across the organization.

In this role, you will support initiatives focused on improving system performance, reliability, and automation across enterprise platforms. You will contribute to test automation, performance engineering, and infrastructure modernization efforts, helping ensure systems can scale effectively and handle high volumes of usage.

You will also gain exposure to building and supporting AI-enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency.

This position is ideal for early-career engineers interested in performance testing, automation, cloud infrastructure, and Generative AI. You will gain hands-on experience working with modern engineering tools and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support scalable, high-performing enterprise systems.

This position is part of the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

As a full-time employee in the CODE Program, you'll begin with immersive onboarding and continue with hands-on training, mentorship, and professional development. You'll be part of a collaborative cohort supported by a dedicated program management team, gaining exposure to real-world projects with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

In this role, you will:

  • Support test automation and modernization efforts by assisting with building and executing automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium or Playwright

  • Assist in performance engineering activities by analyzing how systems handle large volumes of data and user traffic to help identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement

  • Support infrastructure and cloud engineering initiatives by working with teams to improve system scalability, reliability, and deployment processes

  • Participate in development and support of AI-enabled and Generative AI solutions, including assisting with integrating AI capabilities into existing systems

  • Work with Linux-based environments and APIs to support system integration, testing, and troubleshooting activities

  • Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to support continuous integration and deployment processes

  • Assist in monitoring application performance and system health, helping identify issues and support resolution efforts

  • Contribute to analyzing system behavior, logs, and metrics to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance

  • Support documentation, testing, and validation efforts for new tools, platforms, and automation capabilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support delivery of scalable and efficient enterprise technology solutions

Required Qualifications:

6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of hands-on experience with programming, including Python and/or Java, used for building scripts, supporting applications, or developing automation solutions in internships, coursework, or work experience

  • 6+ months of experience working with Generative AI or AI-enabled tools, including building or experimenting with chatbot or assistant solutions using tools like OpenAI APIs, LangChain, or Hugging Face, applying prompt engineering techniques with LLMs (e.g., GPT-based tools), and integrating AI capabilities into applications or workflows.

  • Practical experience in Linux environments and working with APIs, including running scripts, troubleshooting issues, or supporting backend services in hands-on or real-world setting

  • Exposure to test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or similar frameworks, used to validate application functionality or support quality engineering efforts

  • Familiarity with performance and system behavior concepts, including understanding how applications handle scale, identifying performance bottlenecks, or analyzing system metrics

  • Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD practices, such as working with build pipelines, deployments, or automation workflows in collaborative or team environments

  • Experience collaborating in team-based engineering environments, including participating in debugging, testing, or release activities through internships, part-time work, or shared projects

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.

  • Experience communicating technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.

  • Bachelor's in computer science or related field preferred but not required.

Job Expectations:

  • The selected candidate for this role must be able to begin employment by July 12, 2026, in a fulltime capacity.

  • This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular inoffice attendance as defined by the team and program requirements.

  • Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
