What is the opportunity?

As the Toronto lead for the Rates Derivative Pricing System, you will be the main point of contact with our North America and APAC traders, Quants, and support partners. In this role, you will be involved in development projects to expand the capabilities of the system to support RBC Capital Markets Macro trading business.

What will you do?

  • Work with stakeholders to determine requirements

  • Design and implement solutions that optimize performance, supportability, reusability, and dependability

  • Be involve in all steps of the software development lifecycle

  • Meet deadlines in support of a fast-moving release cycle

  • Resolve production issues and recommend changes to improve the system

  • Advise traders, Quants, support, and fellow team members.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Familiarity with Capital Markets business to be able to effectively communicate with traders and Quants; understanding the trade lifecyle

  • 7+ years extensive hands-on coding experience with server-side Java with strong emphasis on Java Concurrency, Messaging, and Event processing.

  • 3+ years lead experience

  • Design and implementation experience of low latency trading applications with real time messaging technologies (Solace, TREP); experience as a member of a team providing L2 support

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Be a team player, detail oriented, focused on quality to ensure the team's success.

Nice-to-have

  • Curve building and interest rate swap pricing knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience with DevOps/CICD pipelines and tools such as JIRA, GitHub, Maven, Jenkins

  • Experience in Java 8+, Spring 5.0+, REST API, Web Services, SQL

  • Experience with HTML5, React.Js, and Node.js

  • Agile delivery
