Description
SAIC is seeking an experienced Facility Operator with proven experience in managing Tier 3 equivalent colocation data center facilities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in monitoring Facility Operations to ensure compliance with the necessary standards required for federal agencies. The role provides monitoring of 7x24x365 Data Center Facility Operations and Access Control.
The position will work to support the NCCIPSv2 Contract. The National Center for Critical Information Processing and Storage (NCCIPS) is a federal shared services facility, managed by the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC). NCCIPS provides facilities support to meet the requirements of multiple federal agency data centers and manages those relationships via Interagency Agreements. NCCIPS is a 200,000 sq. ft. secure facility situated on a 64-acre campus within NASA Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi. This position is an on-site position located at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.
Job Description:
  • Monitor and control data center equipment and systems (e.g., electrical, mechanical, access control and life-safety systems, Building Automation System (BAS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), etc.) per data center and OEM standard operating procedures, processes and related documentation, quality assurance and safety standards. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Monitor Endura system cameras, make and assign NCCIPS badges to NCCIPS personnel, fill in at the front desk when needed, monitor CCURE badging system, monitor and respond to Siemens fire system.
  • Operators will be proficient in all aspects of BAS and Access Control and rotate through each position regularly.
  • Maintain and distribute the daily log of events. Document information and assist in producing Incident Reports for any unusual occurrences.
  • Requires ability to work rotating day & night shifts on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Staff will be required to cover vacant shifts and work overtime during infrastructure emergencies or natural disasters such as hurricanes.
  • Be able to perform first aid and CPR with AED after training. Be comfortable with the use of hand fire extinguishers after training.
  • Ensure that employees and visitors follow all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Perform periodic walk-through of data center spaces to document and ensure proper operation of facility systems.

Qualifications
Required Education:
  • AA Degree in related discipline; Or, High School and up to two (2) years of related experience with certification.

Required Experience:
  • Technical Associate's Degree in related field
  • Hands-on operational experience or training with large scale Trane air-cooled chilled water systems and Liebert air handling units and associated automation software.
  • Prior data center operations experience.
  • Building automation software training or experience.

Desired Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with general supervision, make critical decisions, maintain thorough records of shift activities and keep supervision fully briefed on current issues.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, possess good writing skills, able to produce reports, be an effective communicator, and have good reading skills to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be fully ambulatory to accomplish data center rounds.
  • Candidates must be able to distinguish colors in order to observe alarm indicator lights.
