Job description

Role: Performance Testing Consultant
Location: San Antonio, TX (100% onsite)
Duration: 6 months
Experience: 7+ years
 
Role Overview: The consultant will lead performance engineering initiatives across distributed applications, establishing standards and best practices while driving end-to-end performance testing, analysis, and tuning in a cloud-native, containerized environment.
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop performance engineering standards, strategies, and best practices.
  • Design and execute load, stress, endurance, scalability, and benchmark tests for distributed applications.
  • Perform deep root-cause analysis using JVM analysis, thread/heap dumps, DB diagnostics, infra monitoring, and observability tooling to resolve bottlenecks.
  • Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and champion shift-left practices.
  • Tune and optimize distributed applications running on OpenShift/Kubernetes (or similar platforms).
  • Lead complex performance investigations and influence app, infra, and architecture decisions.
 
Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Performance Testing and Engineering (7+ years).
  • Solid knowledge of Java, APIs, microservices, message queues, containerized apps, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with observability platforms: Splunk, Broadcom DX, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace (or similar).
  • Proficiency with performance tools: StresStimulus, JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or k6.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) for log analysis and faster troubleshooting.
