Position: Senior Software Developer - Java
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Contract
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer - Java to join our development team. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, Microservices, and Microsoft Azure. This role requires an independent, self-motivated professional who can design, develop, and deliver scalable enterprise applications while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Candidates must be local to the Chicago area and willing to work in a hybrid work environment.
Required Skills
  • 8+ years of experience in Java application development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java (Java 8/11/17).
  • Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and RESTful APIs.
  • Strong experience in Microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application development.
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java-based enterprise applications.
  • Build and enhance cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure services.
  • Develop REST APIs and Microservices following industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to application architecture, technical design, and solution development.
  • Support Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps and CI/CD implementation.
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Required Experience
  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Proven experience building enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Azure.
