We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead (Java) to drive the design, development, and delivery of large-scale, low-latency trading platforms within our FX engineering group. This role combines deep technical contribution with technical leadership, guiding engineers and shaping the architecture and direction of critical trading systems.
You will remain close to the code while also leading projects end-to-end-partnering with architects, influencing engineering standards, and mentoring team members to deliver high-performance, highly reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of low-latency trading systems, while remaining an active, hands-on contributor to the codebase
  • Own and drive technical delivery of projects, from design through implementation, testing, and production rollout
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering best practices in coding, performance, and system design
  • Partner closely with architects, product teams, and other engineering groups to define and deliver scalable solutions for FX trading
  • Contribute to and guide the evolution of system architecture, ensuring performance, scalability, and resilience
  • Design, build, and support high-performance trading venues and services
  • Lead efforts to improve system observability, reliability, and operational excellence
  • Develop automation to detect, prevent, and resolve production issues, minimizing latency and downtime
  • Drive continuous improvements across performance optimization, cost efficiency, security, and developer experience
  • Champion agile and DevOps practices, promoting CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure as code
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Java development, with a passion for writing clean, efficient, production-grade code
  • Proven experience operating as a technical lead or senior engineer influencing design and delivery
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles
  • Expertise in concurrency, multithreading, and performance optimization
  • Strong knowledge of low-latency system design and memory management
  • Experience with profiling, benchmarking, and performance tuning tools
  • Familiarity with network protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP) and techniques for optimizing network communication
  • Proven track record of owning and delivering complex, business-critical systems
  • Experience working in agile environments with modern engineering practices
  • Exposure to DevOps practices, including automation of testing, deployment, and infrastructure
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve complex, cross-system issues
  • Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team, balancing leadership and hands-on delivery

Compensation/Benefits Information:
LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $147,500 - $245,900.
Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/"bonus plan"). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience. LSEG roles (excluding internships and part-time roles of less than 20 hours per week) are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG Benefits program, which includes offerings of: Annual Wellness Allowance, Paid time-off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending & Health Savings Options, Prescription Drug plan, 401(K) Savings Plan and Company match.
