What is a Java ecommerce developer?

Java Ecommerce Developers are software professionals who specialize in building, maintaining, and enhancing online shopping platforms using the Java programming language. They work with various ecommerce frameworks and technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, and popular ecommerce platforms like SAP Hybris or Broadleaf Commerce. Their responsibilities include developing new features, integrating payment gateways, ensuring website security, and optimizing performance to provide a seamless shopping experience for users. Java Ecommerce Developers often collaborate with designers, marketers, and other developers to deliver robust, scalable ecommerce solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Java ecommerce developer?

To thrive as a Java Ecommerce Developer, you need strong proficiency in Java programming, web development frameworks (like Spring), and experience with ecommerce platforms, often supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with tools such as Maven, Git, RESTful APIs, and ecommerce systems like Magento or SAP Hybris is typically expected, and certifications in Java or relevant ecommerce platforms can be advantageous. Effective problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills help developers understand business needs and collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams. These skills and qualities are crucial to building scalable, secure, and user-friendly ecommerce solutions that drive business success.

What are some common challenges Java ecommerce developers face when integrating third-party payment solutions?

Java Ecommerce Developers often encounter challenges such as ensuring secure data transmission, achieving PCI DSS compliance, and handling various payment provider APIs with differing requirements. Debugging payment failures and managing asynchronous transaction notifications can also add complexity. Job description

At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you'll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.
This role is a hybrid position
Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston, Seattle, or Santa Barbara office locations.
At Sonos, we aspire to grow our Direct to Consumer channel twice as fast as the rest of our business. The Ecommerce team brings that goal to life by working cross-functionally to build a premium education experience that drives conversion and order value. Our team produces web experiences in support of new product introductions, promotions, new merchandising experiences, demand driving programs, always-on optimization, and geo-expansion.
Role Summary:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Ecommerce QA Assistant to join our Site Production team to inspect and monitor the quality and accuracy of the digital experiences we build before we publish those experiences for our customers.
What You'll Do:
You will work in an agile environment in support of content developers, helping to audit and test their work prior to release. The role will also help to manage user acceptance testing with key stakeholders and occasionally support the Customer Relationship Management team in QAing emails and in-app communications. This is a great opportunity for an entry-level candidate with some background in Web testing or development or for a career shift from a candidate with a technical background.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan and carry out tests in support of new experiences on sonos.com
  • Help the Site Production team drill into a broken piece of code or bad configuration using your troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Obsess over the details and ensure the finished product meets the initial experience requirements and performs effortlessly across devices and browsers

Basic Qualifications:
  • You deliver a high degree of accuracy and are detail-oriented
  • You have a strong technical aptitude and an insatiable appetite for learning and staying up to date
  • You are articulate and concise in written and verbal communication
  • You are ambitious and a self-starter
  • You are a problem-solver with excellent follow-through
  • You have excellent interpersonal and prioritization skills, with some project coordination experience
  • You are comfortable working with a team in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with web testing
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Experience testing websites utilizing responsive design
  • Knowledge of scrum and agile development frameworks a plus
  • Comfortable with Google docs (collaboration), Jira (issue and work tracking), and Confluence (documentation)
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Commerce Cloud a plus (self-guided modules are available to the public via Trailhead)

Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. If you don't have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.
Visa Sponsorship: Sonos is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role at this time. We ask that applicants be authorized to work for any US employer, both now and in the future.
#LI-Hybrid
Your profile will be reviewed and you'll hear from us once we have an update. At Sonos we take the time to hire right and appreciate your patience.
The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:
$79,000 and $98,600
The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate's geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
Please note that compensation details listed in US job postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
We also offer a comprehensive benefits program with choice and flexibility in mind to help support the health, wealth, and overall well-being of our employees. Regular full time employees in the US are eligible for benefits on day one, including:
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • A 401(k) plan with company matching and immediate vesting
  • An Open Time Off policy (OTO) so you have maximum opportunity to disconnect and recharge, with no tenure-based vacation accruals required
  • 80 hours of sick time upon hire, refreshed annually
  • Up to 12 paid holidays per calendar year
  • Sonos offers a generous paid leave program for new parents or to care for a family member with a serious health condition, as well as short- and long-term disability for your own medical condition
  • Company-paid Disability, Life, and AD&D Insurance
  • Voluntary benefits, including Voluntary Life, AD&D, Accident, and Pet Insurance
  • Mental health benefits to support your holistic well-being
  • A generous employee discount program & Sonos Radio HD - on us!

Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company's sole discretion, consistent with the law.
