Geode Capital Management, LLC is seeking a highly motivated individual with a deep understanding and passion of engineering and is interested in joining a dynamic, innovation-focused, high impact team.
As Director, Software Engineering, you will be supporting our business facing delivery teams and tasked with the responsibility of delivering modern technology solutions to our business partners. This role will be an essential part of our Technology function and provides an opportunity to learn and facilitate the success of our business.
This role is based in our office in Boston, Massachusetts. You are required to follow the firm's policy on in-office attendance. Our current policy requires in-office attendance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then provides an option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. Please note that Geode may alter this policy at any time.
Responsibilities:
  • Strategy & Planning:
    • Execute the defined technology vision in collaboration with architecture, engineering, and product leadership
    • Translate technology strategy into scalable solutions, with a strong emphasis on platform stability and engineering best practices
  • Hands-on Engineering:
    • Lead implementation of robust multi-tier applications using Python, Java, EKS, and AWS, with a focus on scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions
    • Leads the creation and maintenance of engineering standards to ensure relevance and innovation
    • Champion standard processes in modular application design, including frontends, shared libraries, API's and integration patterns
  • Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor high performing teams including developers and test engineers
    • Serves as a link between product and architecture

Skills You Bring:
  • A Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 15+ years of leading and delivering complex applications in a professional software engineering environment
  • Deep full-stack expertise in Java, Python, Javascript, AWS and databases systems
  • Passionate about engineering delivery effectiveness and the practices around test, build and deployment automation
  • Experience with GenAI DevAssist tooling
  • Strong understanding of modular architecture, component sharing, and scalable design principles
  • Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs and working with cloud-native technologies
  • High degree of autonomy and ownership; able to drive projects forward with minimal guidance
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align partners
  • Experience integrating 3rd party SAAS platforms i.e. Salesforce, with enterprise systems as part of an E2E business workflows
