Overview
Engineer II, Full Stack Innovations designs and develops scalable cloud-native applications using modern architectures such as microservices and container orchestration. The role contributes to system design, builds reliable backend services, APIs, and front-end applications, and works closely with cross-functional teams to implement DevOps practices and automated delivery pipelines. The engineer focuses on building resilient, high-availability systems with strong monitoring and performance visibility. The position also supports agile development, mentors best practices in coding and architecture, and leverages AI tools to improve development efficiency and software quality.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications to maintain and enhance scalability.
  • Utilize containerization technologies to package and deploy application components consistently across various environments.
  • Implement and manage container orchestration for automated deployment, scaling, and operation of application services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing.
  • Architect and implement solutions that scale horizontally to meet dynamic and changing workloads while optimizing resource utilization.
  • Design and implement resilient and fault-tolerant applications, ensuring high availability and quick recovery from failures.
  • Implement robust monitoring and logging practices, leveraging tools like Prometheus and Grafana to ensure visibility into application performance.
  • Champion API-first design principles, creating well-defined and documented APIs to facilitate seamless communication between microservices and external systems.
  • Embrace and apply agile methodologies for rapid and iterative development cycles, responding quickly to changing requirements and delivering high-quality software.
  • Document work clearly and follow established coding standards and practices.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field of study from an accredited college or university. In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in software development, designing, developing and deploying cloud-native applications.
  • Expertise in utilizing AI for increased productivity and software quality, including code generation, debugging, test automation, and log anomaly detection.
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages such as C#, Rust, Java, or similar, and proficiency in relevant frameworks and libraries.
  • Expertise in backend development and working knowledge of databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Proficient in JavaScript frameworks like Angular.js, React.js or Vue.js for building single-page applications.
  • Experience with scalable and resilient system design.
  • Experience in Enterprise software design principles: cloud native application design (i.e., SOLID, 12 Factor applications, or similar), distributed message and event processing, API gateway, service mesh, serverless applications.
  • Knowledge of microservices security, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, secrets management, zero-trust architecture, and secure API design.

Preferred
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and real-time data processing using technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ for building responsive, scalable systems.
  • Experience with integrating machine learning and AI models into software applications.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Skilled in developing and consuming RESTful APIs, and GraphQL
  • In-depth knowledge in microservices architecture, containerization, and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offerings.
  • Experience in with monitoring, logging, and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in AI ethics, data privacy, and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
