Principal Software Engineer

Do you want to be part of growing Fidelityโ€™s Defined Benefit (Pension Plan Administration) business and technology team within Fidelityโ€™s Workplace Investing business unit? We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who will blend deep technology & business expertise with a passion for mentoring and advancing associates. You will provide technical leadership for team working on client projects and technology transformation initiatives to incorporate the latest technologies and improve product features. You will collaborate with other leaders to establish the technology standards, influence the technology decisions and deliver solutions. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest technologies to your role to empower others with that knowledge.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • BS or above in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of N-tier application development experience with proven understanding of Java, Spring, OOD, XML, HTML, DevOps and Sybase/SQL/Relational Databases is required
  • Hands on experience with actuarial science / Defined benefits domain is highly preferred
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum project environment with project team members in multiple locations, including offshore, is required
  • Strong Object-oriented analysis and design experience is required
  • Proven expertise and passion for delivering complex technology solutions and achieving results

The Value You Deliver
  • Develop and maintain Defined Benefit (DB) calculation engine applications, using Java, Spring Framework, XML, HTML, JDBC, SQL, Sybase, JUnit, and JaCoCo.
  • Build and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for defined benefit applications, using Maven, Jenkins, Stash, and Sonar.
  • Effectively operate in agile software delivery environment / Scrum.
  • Work closely with application owners, solution architects and business sponsors
  • Ensuring designs meet performance, security, usability, and reliability and scalability requirements.
  • Responsible for identifying and building technologies, practices, and tools needed to build the platform
  • Collaborate with different groups within the organization, identify best engineering practices, and promote those across other organizations.
  • Mentor other team members and collaborate extensively with our offshore development team
  • Conduct demos, participate in technical reviews and drive engineering excellence.
The Team

This dynamic group is part of the Technology team that supports Defined Benefit (Pension Plan Administration) product within Workplace Investing business unit. We provide the recordkeeping and administration of Defined Benefit (also known as pension) plans on behalf of Fidelity's corporate clients, their employees and retirees.

The Principal Software Engineer will work in partnership with Squad Leaders and other Business Leaders to build and support pension calculation applications supporting our capabilities on the DB Recordkeeping Platform. We are laser focused on modernizing and bringing innovative solutions to our business partners. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you evolve and sustain our innovative, agile culture as we complete our mission.
