CO-OP/Intern Cycle: January - June 2027
Anticipated Start & End Date: January 4 - June 25, 2027 (dates are flexible based on school requirements)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Audax is looking for a dynamic, motivated AI Engineer CO-OP to join the business solutions team. This position will be responsible for supporting the Director, AI Solutions Architect for Audax Private Equity on AI initiatives with hands-on experience in AI development and AI governance. This position will coordinate with adjacent data teams to help create data pipelines, ensure input quality and integrity, and validate AI application outputs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with designing, implementing, maintaining, and scaling Audax's AI ecosystem.
  • Coordinate with internal IT professionals to scale AI infrastructure within the company's cloud enterprise.
  • Play an integral role in proof-of-concept development for different function area use cases within the firm.
  • Assist with implementation of AI governance policies; this includes security, documentation, and privacy.
  • Provide data validation and data quality assessments through coordination with the firm's internal data engineers.
  • Code within an IDE environment (VS Code) with Python, SQL, and Git.
  • Utilize cloud environment services to assist with AI application development and deployment.
  • Understand and experiment with modern AI architectures for experimentation and use case development.
  • Support coordination across different firm function areas for information gathering, updates, and user testing.

COMPETENCIES:
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and Git.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including GitHub, and with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with OpenAI (SDKs, tools, CustomGPTs).
  • Experience with Snowflake is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Computational Engineering, Computer Science, or another related field.
  • Experience with at least two of the following required: traditional machine learning, natural language processing, transfer learning/fine-tuning, predictive analytics, agentic frameworks, AI output evaluation, and data engineering.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as critical thinking skills required to operate in an efficient and meaningful way with all levels of the organization.
  • Previous Co-Op or full-time experience in a related field is a plus.

TRAVEL: No regular travel is required for this role.
OTHER DUTIES:
For Massachusetts: The hourly range for this position is $30.00-$34.00. The hourly range represents the estimated low and high end for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and Audax reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. An employee may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation based on performance.
