Job Description
The University of La Verne is a private not-for-profit university founded in 1891 located in La Verne, California. The core values that we live by are Ethical Reasoning, Diversity and Inclusivity, Lifelong Learning and Community and Civic Engagement.
The Department of Modern Languages is seeking a part-time instructor of Japanese, to begin August 23, 2021. The position will entail teaching Elementary and Intermediate Japanese language courses, with the possibility of advanced language, culture, and literature courses, as needed, either as regularly scheduled classes or directed studies. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence and a sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
A Master's degree in a Humanities discipline and native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English are required.
Preferred Qualifications
College-level teaching experience and familiarity with current communicative, proficiency and/or task-based methodologies are highly desirable; preference will be given to candidates who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
