Job description

BASIC FUNCTION
Reports to the Engineering Manager, performs a variety of engineering work related to lapping processes and machines, including machine and tooling design/modification, research and product development/evaluation and equipment order review.
PRIMARY DUTIES
  1. Works with internal & external customers to create designs that focus on functionality (assembly, operation, and maintenance), cost, and appearance.

  1. Using established methods produces or modifies layout and detail drawings for a variety of machines, components, and process tooling. Designs or modifies electrical and pneumatic diagrams for machines and tooling.

  1. Completes other externally and internally driven engineering projects including tooling quotes, equipment order reviews, product evaluations, and facility layouts.

  1. Ensures all drawings and diagrams are updated to reflect the latest design changes. Creates and maintains bills of materials and master part number assignment in accordance with established departmental policies.

  1. Writes and updates assembly procedures and operations/maintenance manuals for all machines and accessories.

  1. Prepares and maintains timelines for large projects showing major milestones and progress vs. plan. Communicates status and priority of engineering projects to the Engineering Manager, and company personnel both orally and in writing, as appropriate.

  1. Identifies, evaluates, and helps prioritize ideas for improving design of machines, components, and process tooling.

  1. Uses safe work practices at all times. Identifies potential safety hazards and takes prompt action to eliminate them.

  1. Interface with sales, purchasing and production teams on project activities

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY
Requires a B.S.M.E. or M.S.M.E with a minimum of three years work experience in machine design/automation. The ideal candidate will have experience/proficiency in 3D solid modeling preferably Solid Works. Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred. Must possess good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
