Job description

Job Summary

The primary role of the Janitorial Worker position is maintaining clean, sanitary, and working facilities. This includes daily general building cleaning as well as coordinating and communicating with Homefull Supervisor/Homefull Administrators, and assisting outside service personnel and vendors to ensure that maintenance & janitorial needs are addressed in a timely and professional manner. This person will work as part of a team to address all cleaning needs, primarily in Dayton, (and other programs & locations when needed and assigned), to ensure that all Homefull facilities meet the standards expected.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

The Janitorial Worker will be responsible for:

  • Performing thorough daily cleaning of all Homefull facilities assigned to including but not limited to: sweeping/mopping, cleaning windows, dusting furniture, emptying trash cans, etc.;
  • Prioritizing janitorial emergencies (i.e: clean up spills, plunge toilets, etc.);
  • Performing on-going projects such as seasonal cleaning and preventative maintenance as scheduled;
  • Maintaining cleaning inventory and restocking supply closets;
  • Noting and reporting janitorial/maintenance concerns to Supervisor;
  • Completing all requested communication and reports accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Providing direction and assistance to outside service vendors for specialized repairs;
  • Maintaining grounds and common areas including general cleaning, landscaping, trash pickup, snow removal for walks, steps and parking lots;
  • Completing minor repairs, such as replacing air filters and maintaining HVAC systems;
  • Following all health and safety policies and procedures, and reporting any accidents or incidents;
  • Communicating effectively with management on damages, anticipated issues, and other related items.

  • Be willing to assist with emergency repairs or coordination of them as needed including nights, weekends, and/or holidays;
  • Adhere to fair housing standards, local codes, and Homefull P
  • Represent Homefull in a professional & positive manner;
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with other staff, clients, external vendors and contractors and any others;
  • Abide by confidentiality and treat all with dignity & respect;
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by Homefull Supervisor/Administration (not by clients, partners, or other parties).

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma required. Knowledge of general maintenance & janitorial methods, operating requirements, equipment and tools, and health & safety precautions preferred.
Valid driver license and reliable transportation required.
Good mechanical and problem-solving skills. Well organized and the ability to complete tasks in a timely and complete manner. Computer literate and able to communicate effectively using electronic means such as email, text messaging, etc.
