Job description

Job Title: Material Handler II

Job Description

The Material Handler II plays a key role in supporting warehouse distribution activities by safely handling, moving, and securing materials in accordance with internal quality standards. This position operates various types of warehouse equipment, follows detailed work orders, and ensures accurate documentation of all materials moved or handled.

Responsibilities

  • Follow internal quality standards and safety procedures while performing all distribution and material handling activities.
  • Read and interpret work orders and follow instructions to determine the materials or container loads that need to be moved.
  • Operate authorized warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks, rider jacks, standup trucks, order pickers, turret trucks, reach trucks, and forklifts over 5K, after successful training.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves using hand methods, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment.
  • Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Count and weigh materials and accurately record the number of units moved or handled on daily production sheets.
  • Complete basic checklists, forms, and related documents to support accurate inventory and process control.
  • Identify issues or problems in the material handling process and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Work effectively as part of a team while also taking responsibility for individual tasks.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to support reliable warehouse operations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating stand up forklifts.
  • Experience operating sit down forklifts.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, rider jacks, standup trucks, order pickers, turret trucks, reach trucks, and forklifts over 5K after training.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and complete basic checklists, forms, and related documents.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with daily production sheets and basic inventory documentation.
  • Comfort working with material handling equipment and securing loads for transit.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
