About the Role

Life IVF Center is seeking a motivated and capable Trainee Biologist / Andrologist to join our world-class IVF and Embryology Laboratory team. This is a high-impact role designed for candidates passionate about reproductive health, laboratory excellence, and long-term career growth in embryology and clinical science.

You’ll work closely with our physicians, nurses, and scientists in one of the top IVF programs in California, gaining hands-on training in clinical embryology and andrology procedures. High-performing team members may be selected to advance to full embryology training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an embryology or related clinical laboratory (human preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related health science field (graduate degree preferred but not required)
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Seeking a long-term career in reproductive laboratory science
  • Willingness to train primarily at our Irvine headquarters for several months
  • Familiarity with EMR software and Microsoft Excel preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist embryologists in ART procedures including:
    • Oocyte retrieval
    • In-vitro fertilization (IVF) and ICSI
    • Embryo culture, cryopreservation, thawing, and assisted hatching
    • Embryo transfer preparation
  • Perform andrology procedures such as:
    • Sperm isolation (MESA/TESA) and semen washes for IVF/IUI
    • Sperm motility analysis and proficiency testing (AAB)
  • Maintain quality control, safety, and compliance documentation
  • Support laboratory operations including reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, and inventory management
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, FDA, CAP, and Tissue Bank standards

Core Laboratory Skillset

  • Sperm wash and all andrology duties
  • Egg retrieval support
  • Daily quality control and dish setup
  • ICSI procedure assistance
  • Embryo freezing and thawing

Schedule

  • Full-time position, 5–6 days per week (Monday–Saturday)
  • Shorter daily hours compared to traditional full-time schedules
  • Sundays off; occasional flexibility for five-day workweeks
