Position Summary

BrightStar Care, a trusted leader in home health services, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Infusion RN with strong assessment experience and advanced IV therapy skills to provide high-quality in-home nursing care. This role focuses on infusion therapy, vascular access management, comprehensive patient assessments, and delivering safe, patient-centered care in the home setting.
The ideal candidate is clinically confident, detail-oriented, and experienced in multiple IV infusion modalities, with strong assessment skills and a commitment to excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and start-of-care evaluations in the home settingย 
    ย Administer and manage a wide range of infusion therapies, including:ย 
    • ย Peripheral IV therapyย 
    • ย Central line care and maintenanceย 
    • PICC line insertion support, maintenance, and dressing changes.
    • ย Midline cathetersย 
    • ย Port-a-cath (implanted port) access, flushing, and de-accessingย 
    • ย IV antibiotic therapy, hydration therapy, and specialty infusionsย 
  • ย Perform PICC line insertion, care, and maintenance, including sterile dressing changes, flushing protocols, and complication prevention in a home care setting.
    Administer and monitor complex IV and infusion therapies via PICC lines while ensuring patient safety, education, and compliance with Joint Commission and state guidelines.
  • Monitor patients for infusion-related reactions and complications, responding promptly to changes in conditionย 
  • Ensure safe handling, preparation, and administration of infusion medicationsย 
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and clinical needsย 
  • Provide patient and family education on infusion therapy, central line care, infection prevention, and medication managementย 
    ย Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentationย 
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate careย 
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JCAHO) standards and Massachusetts state regulationsย 
  • Support continuity of care through effective communication and follow-upย 
  • Provide flexible clinical support as needed, including occasional evenings or weekends
Qualifications & Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusettsย 
  • Minimum 2โ€“3 years of nursing experience (home health, infusion therapy, acute care, or related field)ย 
  • Strong hands-on experience with IV therapy and infusion nursing required
  • Experience with PICC lines, central lines, midlines, and implanted ports required
  • Strong experience in patient assessments and start-of-care evaluations requiredย 
  • Proficiency in managing complex infusion therapies and vascular access devicesย 
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsย 
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational abilitiesย
